ANXA8L1/2 vs. ANXA8

[edit]

So, first of all, ANXA8L1 (previously called ANXA8L2) is a different gene/protein than ANXA8. From what I can find, it appears that they are the result of a duplication event on the shared parent gene Anxa8. I’m not sure how this started, but for some reason these two have gotten mixed up on this page starting with the bot that made it, maybe because ANXA8L1 has orthologs called Anxa8?

I’m going to try to move this page (since ANXA8L2 is out of date), and then try to clean up the conflation. The uniprot protein name is “Annexin A8-like protein 1“, while the new gene symbol is “ANXA8L1”. The uniprot protein seems almost short enough, but I’m going to just make a minimal change, and try to move it to ANXA8L1. Pabnau (talk) 05:11, 11 August 2026 (UTC)Reply
