Trudeau should not be listed

[edit]

The person who reversed the dot is not well versed in Canadian politics. The leader of the NDP is planing on calling an election as soon as February, which would lead to an election before the summit. 2804:14C:183:8E77:ED47:A90F:B64B:65EE (talk) 03:38, 3 January 2025 (UTC)Reply

Friedrich Merz should also not be listed

[edit]

There has been no news source that reported Merz will be attending the G7 Summit, even if he is "presumptive next chancellor". The German government coalition formation is still underway.

South Korea should not be listed

[edit]

On June 7, Lee Jae-myung claimed that South Korea was invited to the G7. All news reports about this are based on his words and no other sources exist. The news has not been verified. 180.226.121.234 (talk) 04:37, 7 June 2025 (UTC)Reply

Why only Canadian press lol. I can maybe understand no South Korean sources, but I don't understand why Canada is the only country from which sources are allowed here.

Also if you're so skeptical of Lee's claim, you'd think Canada would have come out and disputed his claim by now. Why would they just let Lee run wild with a blatant lie? grapesurgeon (seefooddiet) (talk) 20:39, 9 June 2025 (UTC)Reply

Lee Jae-myung is the President of the Republic of Korea. I truly don’t understand why anyone would label him a liar. Numerous reputable Korean media outlets have confirmed that he was officially invited to the G7 summit, and his attendance has been scheduled.
The list shown on the official Canadian G7 website only includes G7 member states — it does not reflect the guest countries.
Please don’t be misled by far-right YouTubers spreading false narratives, and refrain from editing Wikipedia based on their propaganda. WoodyL8 (talk) 01:01, 9 June 2025 (UTC)Reply

South Korea should be listed

[edit]

Far-right conspiracy theorists in South Korea are currently spreading misinformation, claiming President Lee hasn't been invited to the G7 summit. They argue the official G7 Kananaskis website doesn't list his attendance, but this is also true for other non-member guests like Australia and Indonesia. Since the 'invitations' for these countries are reported by their own national media, South Korean media stating Lee's attendance should be considered reliable. Katyusha926 (talk) 20:15, 8 June 2025 (UTC)Reply

The official G7 Kananaskis website (https://g7.canada.ca/en/canadian-presidency/events-calendar/g7-leaders-summit) does not list the participation of non-G7 member states. However, multiple South Korean media outlets, including Korea JoongAng Daily (https://koreajoongangdaily.joins.com/news/2025-06-08/national/politics/Opportunities-challenges-abound-as-President-Lee-makes-diplomatic-debut-at-G7-summit-/2325223), Chosun Ilbo (https://www.chosun.com/english/national-en/2025/06/08/JJZV5BCU6BCKRCPJXRLJAFVUYU/), and KED Global (https://www.kedglobal.com/business-politics/newsView/ked202506080001), confirm President Lee's attendance. Furthermore, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Korea has issued an official statement confirming his participation (https://www.mofa.go.kr/ca-en/brd/m_5231/view.do?seq=761778). Replace South Korea

[edit]

In the Korean article says that: "우리나라는 '참관국' 성격으로 참석하지만, 참관국까지 참여한 별도 성명에서 중국을 겨냥한 메시지가 나올 경우, 그 성명에 같이 이름을 올릴 지도 주목됩니다." This means that Korea will participate as an 'Observer', not as a Official Participant. 118.216.239.128 (talk) 20:31, 9 June 2025 (UTC)Reply

WP:OTHERCONTENT just because the Korean Wikipedia says something, doesn't mean it's worth including here. Instead, provide a reliable source for that claim. grapesurgeon (seefooddiet) (talk) 20:34, 9 June 2025 (UTC)Reply

thanks bro 118.216.239.128 (talk) 20:42, 9 June 2025 (UTC)Reply
Actually looking closer at the Wikiepdia article, nevermind.
The Wikipedia article could be made clearer, but it already makes a distinction between participants and invited countries. "Invited countries" is the 참관국 you're thinking of; they're only invited but do not actually participate.
Basically all of the invited leaders are from countries that are clearly not part of the G7.
So nothing to change. It maybe could be made clearer in the article, but imo it's clear enough grapesurgeon (seefooddiet) (talk) 20:44, 9 June 2025 (UTC)Reply
Hmm... Now that I hear it, that does make a lot of sense. Since I was invited in some capacity, it would’ve been possible to attend as an observer. -No Objection- 118.216.239.128 (talk) 20:51, 9 June 2025 (UTC)Reply

This is a warning : South Korea is not one of the invited countries to the 51st G7 Summit.

[edit]

Please refer to the following sources:

https://currentaffairs.adda247.com/g7-summit-2025-key-highlights-participants-and-indias-absence/

https://www.jagranjosh.com/general-knowledge/g7-summit-2025-check-date-host-country-participants-representatives-and-other-key-details-1748890974-1

These international news articles do not list South Korea as one of the invited countries to the 51st G7 Summit.

And plus, just because a Korean media outlet publishes an article in English does not make it an international source.

The official notice from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs merely includes a link to the official site of the 51st G7 Summit, and does not provide any source confirming South Korea's invitation. This is precisely why, in the previous Topic, I emphasized that unless there is a clear and verifiable foreign news source — not just a domestic one — South Korea should not be listed among the invited countries due to the lack of cross-checkable, reliable evidence.

I only wanted to clarify the facts. At first, I didn’t understand the context behind the phrase “far-right Koreans strike again,” but after reading through this Talk page, I realized that certain radical left-wing editors are attempting to distort the truth and manipulate this document in order to exaggerate and glorify Lee Jae-myung’s achievements. Guys, this is not about ideology. Wikipedia should not be corrupted for propaganda purposes. Just because it’s an open editing system doesn’t mean fabricating facts is acceptable.

To all editors, especially radical left-wing contributors from Korea: please refrain from using Wikipedia as a tool to spread false ideologies or political propaganda. This is a firm warning to radical left-wing factions in South Korea who continue to spread disinformation, manipulate facts, and engage in politically motivated propaganda under the guise of Wikipedia editing. Deliberately inserting false narratives, cherry-picking unverifiable sources, or omitting key international perspectives in order to distort public perception is a direct violation of Wikipedia’s core principles of neutrality and verifiability. Such actions not only undermine the credibility and reliability of the platform but also erode the trust of global users who rely on factual and balanced information. Wikipedia is not a tool for ideological warfare — it is a collaborative space for truth. Continued abuse of this platform for partisan agendas will not be tolerated, should be actively challenged, and must be stopped. Let us not distort the truth out of ideological obsession.

Thank you. 123.214.184.96 (talk) 16:33, 10 June 2025 (UTC)Reply

I already responded to you above multiple times.
That first source you linked is a random Indian educational app website, not a reliable source.
That second source you linked seems to predate the announcement of Lee Jae-myung being invited to attend the G7.
Furthermore, if Lee was lying and saying he was invited when he wasn't, do you think Canada would just sit there and take that? They'd call Lee out for lying.
You talk about ideological bias, but you're clearly the most heated about politics here over everyone else. grapesurgeon (seefooddiet) (talk) 16:40, 10 June 2025 (UTC)Reply
You seem to be a bit too in love with Korean media, so let me start with a Korean news article:
https://n.news.naver.com/article/422/0000747820
This Korean article itself explicitly states that South Korea is not an invited country, but merely an observer.
At the G7 Summit, the roles and privileges of invited countries and observer countries are entirely different.
Invited countries and observer countries have distinctly different roles and levels of participation. Invited countries are officially recognized participants who actively engage in discussions, decision-making processes, and joint declarations. They have the privilege to influence the summit’s agenda and outcomes directly. On the other hand, observer countries are allowed to attend certain sessions but do not have the same rights or responsibilities. Observers typically listen to the proceedings and may provide input if requested, but they do not participate in formal negotiations or decision-making. This fundamental difference means that being an invited country carries significantly more influence and status within the summit compared to being an observer.
The roles of observer countries and invited countries are clearly different like this. In other words, South Korea’s status and privileges are completely separate from those of invited countries like Brazil, Australia, India, and Indonesia. So, are you really saying that South Korea should be included in the invited countries list despite this? For what?
Up to this point, I haven’t said a word about ideology. I have explained with great effort, based purely on evidence, facts, and sources, why South Korea should not be on the invited countries listed. I am not expressing this opinion because I dislike Lee Jae-myung, because I’m far-right, or simply because I want to be difficult. If you tried the same conversation with ChatGPT, you would get a similar response, are you going to tell ChatGPT the same bullshit about far-right or whatever? I am nothing more and less than a truth seeker who is concerned that South Korea’s national dignity could be undermined in a globally significant article that people all over the world would read, due to misinformation, propaganda, and fabrication. Aren't you?
Please provide a reliable source that officially lists South Korea as an invited country. Convince me. If you do, I will absolutely and fully acknowledge it. I’ve gone to great lengths to reason with you, but if you're still going to repeat the same ideology bullshit in your next reply, then so be it. I have no intention of wasting my valuable time on replies that aren’t even worth rebutting. If that’s the path you choose, I’ll simply consider you someone beyond reason, and ignore you.
+ You claim that the second source I provided is “predated,” but Kang Yu-jung, the spokesperson for the Presidential Office, stated during a briefing on June 7th KST that President Lee has been "invited" to attend the G7 Summit. The final publication date of this article is June 9th, 2025 at 20:13 KST. Do you even know what “predate” means?
Thank you. 123.214.184.96 (talk) 17:28, 10 June 2025 (UTC)Reply
Judging by that user's IP(123.214.184.96), he is from Korea, and despite the clear evidence, he keeps stubbornly denying it like it's not true.
