I think it is too soon to tell whether or not this event is encyclopedic, but that there is potential due to interest regarding the suspect's motive. While I agree it may be too soon to say how notable this event is, at present it is little more than a news story. What I am seeking from the contributors to this article is some sort of rationale for having this article now, at the early stages of the story, before any trial of the perpetrator has taken place. Comparing it to the article about the Clovis library shooting, I am wondering if there is a trend in the US for libraries becoming a popular crime scenes for seemingly random shootings of unrelated people, just like educational institutions , places of worship, shopping malls and other places where crowds gather. While I am not nominating this article for deletion, yet, I am wondering how much time to give this article for improvement. After all, it took about eighteen months to reach a verdict in the Clovis case, so we are probably talking in terms of years, not just months, for the justice system to reach a verdict about this shooting. not sure if a reply by myself pings everyone above; I don't live in USA but I am personal friends with one of the family of one of the victims (Cody Hull); the family has been upset by the wrong information that has made it into the early version of the article. The earliest editions which others commented on above, have their primary material being from the initial news releases. And so, the article was very vulnerable to early reporting errors, ergo the inaccurate name "Jacob Hull" and misidentification of the individual who was shot at the entrance.
So, toward a verifiable online encyclopedic public-knowledge goal, with newer sources, and with High Respect for the victims, I edited a few things.
Removed is the piecemeal detail of reloading, and minor notes on the third injured individual.
Presently and in the future it contributes to the history of Columbine copycats, and it would still be beneficial for general knowledge for people in the region to have more accurate and aggregated/verified info, as well as give better access to knowledge of the innocent people. I have opted-in to permanently watch this article.

In my opinion, it is probably too soon to have this as a live article and I would still welcome an answer to my question and have someone explain why Wikipedia should have this article.
