Replay? quote from the actual wiki article: FIFA announced that the final of this edition would be replayed if after 90 minutes and extra-time the match ended in a tie.[1] This was to promote attacking play after the defensive approach used by many teams in the knockout stages.[1]

I think this is nonsence. I couldn't find any prove besides the source mentioned in the article. It's difficult to prove the opposite. But im sure it would have been discussed in other papers during that time, if the claim is true. Dezotti Red Card

Prior to my amendment It appeared from the match detail that Dezotti was dismissed for 2 yellow cards, this is not the case, though earlier cautioned he was given a straight red card for violent conduct. My amendment has effected the alignment of this columns, I am not sure how to correct this. If reverted it will be incorrect.I have also altered some of the wording in the overview.20:37, 18 February 2016 (UTC)

Highlights

I recently watched the full match on YouTube and added some highlights under the Summary section. The first half was a tremendous bore, with the second half being a liiiiittle bit more entertaining.

I changed the bit stating that Codesal had "incurred the wrath of the Argentinians by not awarding them a penalty kick after the German team captain Lothar Matthäus fouled Gabriel Calderón", as the play was barely mentioned by the Argentinian commentators and no replay was shown, with only Calderón mildly asking for a penalty and the rest of the players just carrying on. I did recycle that formulation for the Völler penalty, as that one was more heatedly protested.

It may be relevant to include that this was Codesal's final match as a referee, and that the penalty remains controversial to this day. If I'm not mistaken, the rules at the time stated intent for fouls, not mere contact. I found an interesting link (in Spanish) that discusses this point, but I don't have the time to formulate the idea right now. What do you guys think? --Bodofzt (talk) 17:39, 29 June 2019 (UTC)
