Sheer Logistics is an American logistics and supply chain management company headquartered in Chesterfield, MO, a suburb of St. Louis.[1] Founded in 2009, the company provides managed transportation and fourth-party logistics (4PL) services, logistics consulting, transportation management system (TMS) software and freight brokerage services.[1]

History

[edit]

Sheer Logistics was founded in Chesterfield, Missouri in 2009 by Joe Egertson to provide managed transportation services and logistics technology to mid-market shippers.[2][3]

In 2017 it joined Blockchain in Transport Alliance, an industry consortium focused on developing standards on the use of blockchain technology in transportation and logistics.[4]

In October 2022, the company received equity investment from the private investment firm Woodlawn Partners, with a co-investment from Monroe Capital.[1][5][6]

In 2024, Sheer Logistics acquired CargoBarn, an Atlanta-based third-party logistics provider.[7][8][9] The company also received recognition from Supply & Demand Chain Executive for its Scope 3 carbon dioxide equivalent (CO2e) emissions reporting dashboards.[10][11]

Sheer Logistics was listed as a representative vendor in Gartner’s 2024 Market Guide for Fourth-Party Logistics and received an honorable mention in Gartner’s December 2025 Magic Quadrant for Fourth-Party Logistics.[12]
