Shanade Shereen Hopcroft (born 4 October 1997) is a professional footballer who plays as a midfielder for Women's Super League club Crystal Palace and the Republic of Ireland national team.
Hopcroft played youth football with Chelsea, the London Bees, Reading and Middlesex before attending college where she played for Daytona State College and the Colorado Buffaloes. She started her professional career with the London City Lionesses before joining Crystal Palace and later Birmingham City.
Youth career
[edit]Hopcroft joined the Chelsea academy at U10 level. She would also go on to play for London Bees, Reading and Middlesex at U17 level.[1]
College career
[edit]In 2017 Hopcroft moved to the United States where she played played college soccer for Daytona State College and the Colorado Buffaloes.[1]
Club career
[edit]London City Lionesses
[edit]On 31 January 2022, Hopcroft signed for the Women's Championship club, the London City Lionesses.[2]
Crystal Palace
[edit]On 31 July 2023, Hopcrost signed for Women's Championship side Crystal Palace.[3] In her first season with the club, Palace won the Women's Championship gaining promotion to the WSL for the first time in the club's history.[4] That season Hopcroft was voted the club's player of the year by her teammates.[5]
Hopcroft only played 3 games in the WSL as she missed most of the 2024–25 season with an injury, as Palace were relegated.[6]
She returned and made 11 appearances in the first half of the 2025–26 season.[6]
Birmingham City
[edit]On 9 January 2026, Hopcroft signed for WSL 2 side Birmingham City.[7] She scored her one and only goal for the club in a 6–2 win over Hull City in the FA Cup.[8] That season, the club won the WSL 2 and were promoted to the WSL.[9]
Return to Crystal Palace
[edit]On 3 September 2026, Hopcroft returned to Crystal Palace, who had been promoted alongside Birmingham the previous season, on a two-year deal.[6][9]
International career
[edit]Bron in England, Hopcroft is elegible to represent the Republic of Ireland through her grandmother from Tubbercurry, County Sligo.[10] She attended English trial camps at U12 and U15 level.[1]
On 29 September 2026, Hopcroft was called up to the Republic of Ireland national team for the first time for their World Cup play-offs against Kazakhstan.[11]
