sevDesk GmbH is a German software company based in Offenburg. It develops online invoicing and accounting software for self-employed people and small businesses. The company was founded in 2013 and acquired by the French software company Cegid in 2025.[1][2]

History

[edit]

Fabian Silberer and Marco Reinbold founded SEVENIT in 2013 after meeting as informatics students. They launched sevdesk in 2014 for invoicing and customer management, adding accounting features later.[3][4]

In 2017, SEVENIT acquired software assets and the Disdar brand.[5] It also raised €3.1 million that year from investors including LEA Partners and Wecken & Cie.[6] Global Founders Capital invested in sevdesk in 2019.[7]

The founders kept the company in Offenburg as it grew, despite difficulties recruiting specialist staff. By 2021, sevdesk employed about 180 people. Arena Holdings led a €50 million investment in sevdesk in 2021.[1] The company’s revenue was €17.8 million in 2023, with a net loss of €8.6 million.[8]

Cegid acquired sevDesk GmbH and its Austrian subsidiary on 6 February 2025.[2] When the acquisition was announced, sevdesk reported more than 130,000 customers.[9]

Software

[edit]

Sevdesk allows users to create invoices, digitize receipts, reconcile bank transactions and prepare German VAT tax returns.[10][11] Users can export accounting data for their tax advisers,[12] and the software supports the German electronic invoice formats XRechnung and ZUGFeRD.[10]

Sevdesk ranked second behind Lexware Office in CHIP’s 2026 comparison of four cloud accounting products.[13]
