Productboard is a software company that develops a product management platform. Its software helps product teams organize customer feedback, prioritize features and plan product roadmaps. Founded in 2014 by Czech entrepreneurs Hubert Palán and Daniel Hejl, the company is headquartered in San Francisco and has a substantial development presence in Prague.[1][2]
A US$125 million funding round in February 2022 valued Productboard at US$1.725 billion. After subsequent workforce reductions, the company shifted its strategy toward artificial intelligence and its Productboard Spark software in 2026.[3][4]
History
[edit]Founding and growth
[edit]Palan had worked as vice president of product management at the business intelligence company GoodData. His experience there led him to develop software that would help product managers connect customer needs with decisions about which features to build.[5] Palan met Hejl in 2012; they began developing Productboard together the following year and founded the company in 2014.[6]
Productboard was publicly launched at TechCrunch Disrupt in San Francisco in September 2016. Its platform brought customer requests and research together with proposed features, helping product teams set priorities and share plans.[5][7] The company grew in San Francisco and Prague, where it based much of its engineering work.[8]
In February 2022, Productboard raised US$125 million in a Series D round led by Dragoneer Investment Group and Tiger Global Management. The round brought its total funding to US$262 million and valued it at US$1.725 billion.[3] In May, it acquired SatisMeter, a Prague-based company whose software collected feedback from users within websites and applications.[9]
Restructuring and AI development
[edit]Productboard cut approximately one-fifth of its workforce, or about 100 employees, in November 2022, citing weaker demand for software. Further job cuts were reported in January 2024.[2][10] In a July 2024 interview, Palan said the company was concentrating its sales efforts on larger businesses while investing in artificial intelligence.[11]
In January 2026, Productboard opened a public beta of Productboard Spark, an AI-based tool designed to analyse customer feedback, research competitors and help prepare product briefs.[12] In April, the company cut more than 30 percent of its workforce as it reorganized around Spark.[4]
Software
[edit]Productboard's cloud platform collects feedback from sources including customer-support systems, surveys and direct user research. Product teams can link that information to feature proposals, set priorities and create roadmaps. It also connects with other tools used by software-development teams.[1]
Spark adds AI-assisted analysis and planning to the company's product-management software.[12][4]
