Oswald Cockayne
Thomas Oswald Cockayne (1807–1873) was a churchman and philologist, best known today for his monumental edition of Old English medical texts.[1]
Life
[edit]Cockayne took a degree at St. John's College, Cambridge, graduating in mathematics in 1828 as tenth wrangler. He later took holy orders, alongside working for many years an assistant-master in King's College School, London (until 1869). He was a member of the Philological and the Early English Text Societies.[2][3]
