Olivia Chomczuk (born 12 September 2007) is a Scottish footballer who plays as an attacking midfielder for Scottish Women's Premier League club Heart of Midlothian.[1] A product of the Hearts academy, she made her senior debut in 2023 and has had loan spells with Spartans and Montrose. She has represented Scotland at under-16, under-17 and under-19 level. As a teenager, Chomczuk also appeared as Maddy in the seventh series of the CBBC football drama Jamie Johnson.[2]

Early life and television

[edit]

Chomczuk told BBC Sport in 2022 that she began playing football at the age of seven after attending a football camp while on holiday. She subsequently played for a local club and Scotland Schools. In 2020, she won a national keepie-uppie competition in Scotland.[2]

In 2022, Chomczuk played Maddy in series seven of the CBBC drama Jamie Johnson. Her character was involved in a bullying storyline with Sam, played by Jessica McHale, which was discussed by the two actors in a BBC Sport feature during Anti-Bullying Week.[2]

Club career

[edit]

Chomczuk progressed through the Heart of Midlothian academy and made her senior debut against Rangers in May 2023.[3] After making further first-team appearances during the 2023–24 season, she joined fellow SWPL club Spartans on loan in August 2024.[4]

On 9 April 2025, Hearts announced that Chomczuk had signed her first professional contract, effective from 1 July and running until the summer of 2027, with an option for a further year.[3] Four days later, she scored a penalty for Spartans in a 4–2 league win over Aberdeen.[5] She finished the loan spell with 28 league appearances and two goals.[6]

Chomczuk joined Montrose on loan for the 2025–26 season in July 2025.[7] She made 12 league appearances and scored once before Hearts recalled her on 5 January 2026.[6][8] Chomczuk subsequently made four league appearances for Hearts during a season in which the club won the SWPL championship for the first time.[6][9] She remained under contract with Hearts for the 2026–27 season.[10]

International career

[edit]

Chomczuk represented Scotland at under-16 and under-17 level before progressing to the under-19 team. By July 2025, she had made one appearance at under-16 level and four at under-17 level.[11]

During qualification for the 2026 UEFA Women's Under-19 Championship, Chomczuk scored in a 4–1 win over Croatia in December 2025.[12] She added goals against North Macedonia and Norway in April 2026.[13][14]
