Notonecta (from Ancient Greek νῶτον (nôton), meaning "back", and νηκτός (nēktós), meaning "swimmer"), known as backswimmers or water-boatmen, is a genus of aquatic insects in the bug family Notonectidae.[1][2][3][4]
