Route 60 of the National Cycle Network runs between North and East Manchester, with its furthest south stretch forming part of the Fallowfield Loopline.[1]
The route is described here from East Manchester to North Manchester but is signed in both directions. National Route 60 is signed between the northernmost edge in Reddish from where it branches off from National Route 6 and Harpurhey.[1]
NCN 60 continues on to the Ashton Canal towpath, upgraded as part of the 2002 Commonwealth Games.[2]
Fallowfield Loop
[edit]The Loop connects Chorlton-cum-Hardy to Fairfield station and includes many reminders of its past as a railway line.[3]
The route begins at St Werburgh's Metrolink Stop before travelling through the suburb of Levenshulme, past Debdale Park and Gorton reservoirs before ending up to Fairfield station.[3] The Loop is part of National Cycle Network Route 60, which uses the in-filled Stockport Branch Canal and sections of towpath along the Ashton Canal to take you up to the Velodrome and the Manchester City football ground.[3]
