Hylaeus minusculus, or Hylaeus (Prosopisteron) minusculus, is a species of bee in the family Colletidae and subfamily Hylaeinae. It is endemic to Australia. It was described by British-American entomologist Theodore Dru Alison Cockerell in 1913.[1][2]

Description

Male body length is about 4.75 mm. Integumental colouration is mainly black, with yellow markings.[1]

Distribution and habitat

The species occurs in south-eastern Australia. The type locality is Croydon, Victoria. It has also been recorded from Caloundra in south-east Queensland, as well as from Tasmania.[2]

Behaviour

The adults are flying mellivores. Flowering plants visited by the bees include Eucalyptus species.[2]
