Karachi Hub Water Canal Project will supply 100 MGD of filtered potable water to Karachi West District.[1]
Hub System
[edit]The Hub system was developed by WAPDA in the 1980s.[2] It consists of a 30-kilometre canal network supplying 100 MGD to Karachi and 37 MGD to Balochistan as per approved allocation.[3] Of this system, 22 km is currently managed by KW&SC, while 8 km remains under WAPDA's control.[4]

Old Hub Canal
[edit]As of 13 August 2025, Old Hub Canal is under renovation.[4][3] At this time it was almost 50 years old, and suffered leaks.[3]
New Hub Canal
[edit]On 13 August 2025, Bilawal Bhutto inaugurated New Hub Canal.[4] Capacity of the new canal is 100 MGD (million gallons per day), as confirmed by Karachi Water & Sewerage Corporation,[2] while canal supply water from Hub Dam to Karachi.[3] The canal will serve people in Keamari District and Karachi West.[6] The cost of New Canal is Rs 12.8 billion.[6]
