Grant Scott (born 24 June 1973) is a Scottish football manager who is currently the head coach of the SWPL club Celtic FC.[1] He has previously managed the women's teams of Hearts, Hibernian, Glasgow City, St Johnstone as well as an assistant coach at Durham.
Managerial career
[edit]Scott began coaching through youth football and progressed through various age‑group and senior roles. He later worked briefly in the men's game before returning to women's football, where he established his reputation.[2]
Scott first joined Hearts Women as part of the coaching staff in 2014. During this period, Hearts won the Scottish Women's First Division League Cup, defeating Celtic Reserves 3–0.[3] He later became Head Coach and Club Development Officer from May 2015 to December 2016, overseeing the club's transition into the newly restructured performance pathway.
Scott was appointed head coach of Hibernian Ladies in April 2018, leading the side to a cup double that year and retaining the League Cup in 2019. He left the club in December 2019, citing frustration that the women's team was not more closely integrated with the main Hibernian club.[4][5]
Scott became interim head coach of Glasgow City between July 2021 and November 2021.[6]
Scott served as Head Coach and General Manager of St Johnstone Women from January 2022 to August 2022 before becoming assistant coach with Durham between December 2022 to June 2023.[7]
In June 2023 Scott returned to Hibernian as Head Coach on a 2-year deal where he led the team to the 2024–25 SWPL title, the club's first league championship in 18 years.[8][9] He signed a contract extension with the club in February 2025.[10]
On the 22 December 2025 it was confirmed that Scott had signed a deal with Celtic to replace the outgoing Elena Sadiku as Head Coach.[11] He led the club to a 1–0 victory over Rangers in the 2025-26 Scottish Cup final.[12]
