Event:UN Tech Over 2026
The UN Tech Over edit-a-thon will be happening on June 22, 2026. It is a sequel to last year's event.
Attending
[edit]The guestlist is now closed. If you have already signed up and received confirmation from the UN, please register for this event so we can track your editing progress during the event.
On the day
[edit]Arriving prepared will help us get started smoothly! Before the edit-a-thon, please make sure to:
- Important* Create a Wikipedia account in advance, if you don’t have one already:
- Go to wikipedia.org
- Click on "Create account" at the top right (or on mobile, open the sidebar and click "Log in" -> create account).
- Remember: Your username is public and can be whatever you want - a real name, pseudonym, etc.
- Register on both this Wiki event page and the program dashboard once you’ve made your account - this way we can track your progress together!
- Bring your laptop and make sure it is fully charged. We also highly encourage you to bring your own extension cord as well, in case you need to charge your laptop or phone devices.
- Review the training slide deck and worklist ahead of time
Background
[edit]The UN Tech Over is a series of hackathons and tech-related challenges that aim to celebrate the role and potential of technology in advancing progress on the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). The event fosters collaboration, awareness, and engagement with the open source community, demonstrating the transformative power of technology and multi-stakeholder cooperation in solving real-world problems.
This year, we will focus on editing Wikipedia pages concerning AI, emerging technologies, the AI Dialogue and Panel, and the UN Global Digital Compact. You can read up on the 2025 event here!
