Dunstan Guba is a Ghanaian cybersecurity expert, digital forensic analyst, and law enforcement officer with the Ghana Police Service. He serves as the Cyber Intelligence Lead of the Service. His work includes cybercrime investigations, digital forensics, and cybersecurity capacity building in Ghana and across Africa.[1]

Early Life and Education

Dunstan Guba was born and raised in Ghana, Tamale. He studied at the St. Charles Minor Seminary after which he furthered his academic and professional development in cyber intelligence, digital forensics, cybercrime investigation and public awareness, areas that involve examining how criminals use technology and online platforms to target individuals and institutions.[2]

Career

Dunstan Guba is the Cyber Intelligence Lead at the Ghana Police Service, where he leads cyber intelligence operations, forensic investigations, and inter-agency collaborations on cybercrime cases. He also leads inter-agency cyber investigations with the FBI, INTERPOL, and Meta.[1]

He also lectures at the Police Service’s Detective Training Academy, training officers in cybercrime investigations and digital forensics.[1]

In addition, he is affiliated with the Digital Forensic Laboratory at Wisconsin International University College, Ghana, where he contributes to cybersecurity training and research.[3]

In 2025, he was identified as the team lead of AMBER Alert Ghana, a programme operated by the Ghana Police Service in partnership with Meta to distribute alerts concerning abducted children.[4][5]

Cybersecurity work

Guba’s expertise includes malware analysis, penetration testing, mobile and computer forensics, and digital evidence analysis.[1][6][3]He also teaches Ethical Hacking and Penetration Testing at the Wisconsin International University. During the Council of Europe Africa Forum on ransomware, Guba joined African lead specialists to discuss about digital forensics, darknet investigation, open-source intelligence, command-and-control infrastructure, data preservation, cryptocurrency analysis and suspect identification.[5]

Media and public engagement

Guba hosts Cybercrime Alert on Ghana Police Television, a programme about cyber threats and digital safety.[1][7] In 2024, he added his voice to the rise of romance scam in the country where most Ghanaian youth use fake identities to manipulate people for personal gains, Guba cautioned the dangers involved in such act on cybercrime alert.[8]

In 2025, his cyber-safety education focused more on sextortion and sharing of intimate images or videos used to blackmail victims. Guba's education extends beyond passwords, antivirus software and computer systems highlighting that individuals themselves can be targets.[2]

Award

In 2025, Guba won a silver medal at the INTERPOL Digital Security Challenge in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. The competition included more than 100 participants representing law-enforcement agencies from over 60 countries.[7][9]
