I am Benjamin Isakhan, the subject of this draft. I am therefore declaring a conflict of interest and am submitting the draft through Articles for Creation for independent review.

AfC resubmission note

[edit]

I am the subject of this draft and have a conflict of interest, which I have disclosed on my user page. I have therefore used the Articles for Creation process rather than moving the draft directly to article space.

Following the previous decline, I have revised the draft to address WP:NACADEMIC, particularly Criterion 1 (significant impact in the scholarly discipline). For reviewer convenience, the main evidence is:

  • Independent scholarly reception: The Secret History of Democracy was substantively reviewed in Global Change, Peace & Security and the Journal of Intercultural Studies, and discussed in a review essay in the Australian Journal of Political Science. The Legacy of Iraq was reviewed in Political Studies Review and International Dialogue. The draft now summarises this independent critical reception rather than merely listing the publications.
  • Citation impact: Scopus currently indexes 74 publications, approximately 980 citations and an h-index of 18 for Benjamin Isakhan (Scopus Author ID 20734825600). SciVal reports a career field-weighted citation impact of 2.47 and 44.6% of outputs in the top 10% of citation percentiles worldwide. Web of Science records 60 publications, 584 citations and an h-index of 14. These are the kinds of citation metrics specifically identified at WP:NACADEMIC as relevant to Criterion 1.
  • Independent disciplinary recognition: The Australian named Isakhan the Australian field leader in Middle Eastern and Islamic Studies in its 2020 and 2023 Research rankings; the 2020 result was also independently covered by SBS.
  • Additional scholarly recognition includes an ARC Future Fellowship and a 2020 special commendation in the Australian Political Studies Association's Academic Leadership in Political Science Award.

The article itself has been kept relatively concise; the bibliometric material is provided here primarily to assist assessment of academic notability rather than being added to the biography. Ben Isakhan (talk) 04:42, 9 September 2026 (UTC)Reply
