Zodial is a decentralized finance protocol operating on the Solana blockchain. It provides cryptocurrency lending and borrowing services using a portfolio-based risk model. The protocol is intended to allow multiple assets, including cryptocurrencies and tokenized real-world assets, to be managed within a unified collateral account.
The protocol became publicly available in 2026. [https://x.com/zodial_xyz/status/2062236623513768252?s=20]
Overview
[edit]Zodial allows users to supply digital assets to lending pools, earn interest on deposited assets and borrow other assets against their collateral. Unlike isolated lending markets, which generally assess each collateral and debt position separately, Zodial evaluates the combined risk of the assets held and borrowed within a user's portfolio.[1]
The protocol is designed to support both cryptocurrency assets and tokenized representations of traditional financial assets, such as stocks. This allows users to construct positions involving different asset classes within one lending account.[citation needed][2] s
According to the decentralized-finance analytics platform DefiLlama, Zodial operates exclusively on Solana and is categorized as a lending protocol.[3]
Portfolio-based risk model
[edit]Zodial uses a portfolio-margin system to determine borrowing capacity and liquidation risk. The system considers the relationship between a user's collateral and borrowed assets rather than applying the same risk assumptions to every position independently. Assets that have historically moved in similar directions may receive different risk treatment when they are held on opposing sides of a portfolio. For example, a long position in one technology stock combined with a short position in another correlated stock may have lower net market exposure than either position considered independently.[4]
The protocol uses asset-pair-specific loan-to-value and liquidation parameters.[citation needed] Prices are supplied through blockchain-based oracle systems, while an off-chain solver calculates whether the user's portfolio satisfies the protocol's borrowing requirements.[https://app.zodial.xyz/Zodial%20Whitepaper.pdf]
Products
[edit]Zodial offers several lending and portfolio-management functions:
lending digital assets in exchange for variable interest;[5]
borrowing assets against a portfolio of collateral;[6]
creating leveraged positions through repeated borrowing and depositing, commonly known as looping;[7]
borrowing and selling assets to create short exposure;[8]
managing cryptocurrency and tokenized real-world assets within the same collateral account.[9]
The protocol offers different lending-pool risk configurations. Its default configuration, known as Prime, uses wider safety margins and lower borrowing limits. An optional configuration called Frontier provides higher loan-to-value ratios and greater capital efficiency while using smaller liquidation buffers.[https://x.com/zodial_xyz/status/2077313648830115895?s=20 https://zodial.xyz/blog/what-is-frontier][7]
Security
[edit]Zodial is non-custodial, meaning that deposits and loans are administered through blockchain programs rather than being directly held by the protocol's operators.[10]
The protocol's smart contracts and solver were audited by Ackee Blockchain Security before its public launch.[https://s3.zodial.xyz/docs/2026_06_12_ackee-v1.1.pdf] As with other decentralized lending protocols, users remain exposed to risks including smart-contract vulnerabilities, oracle failures, market volatility, insufficient liquidity and liquidation.[11]
