XOi is an American company that provides data solutions used by field service organizations to capture, structure, and analyze equipment data across the lifecycle of physical assets. The company is headquartered in Nashville, Tennessee, and serves industries including heating, ventilation, air conditioning (HVAC) and refrigeration, as well as other skilled trades sectors.
History
[edit]XOi was founded in 2013 in Nashville, Tennessee by Aaron Salow. The company was founded to address challenges in field service operations, including fragmented equipment data and communication gaps between technicians and back-office teams.
The company initially developed connected smart glasses for field-service technicians under the names Pairasight and XoEye. After finding that the hardware was too expensive and cumbersome for its target customers, the company shifted toward applications that technicians could use on phones and tablets and subsequently adopted the name XOi.[1]
In February 2025, private equity firm KKR made a $230 million investment in XOi and became the company’s majority owner. XOi concurrently acquired Specifx, a company that collected and structured equipment data for field-service applications.[2]
In 2026, XOi announced plans to relocate its headquarters to a new office in Nashville’s Gulch district.[3]
Products and services
[edit]XOi provides a platform used by field technicians and service organizations to capture and access jobsite and equipment data, including photo and video documentation and structured asset information.
The platform incorporates technologies such as Optical Character Recognition (OCR) to extract equipment information from dataplates and convert it into structured records, which are enriched with manufacturer specifications and connected to service data over time.
Partnerships
[edit]In 2026, XOi announced a partnership with Blue Frontier, a cooling technology company backed by investors including Bill Gates[4]
XOi has also partnered with companies in the building technology sector, including a collaboration with Brightly Software, a Siemens-affiliated company focused on integrating data into building operations and service workflows.[5]
Reception
[edit]XOi has been covered by business and industry publications in connection with its funding, acquisitions, and partnerships in the field service and facilities technology sector. Coverage has included reporting on its acquisition of Specifx, investment from KKR, and expansion in Nashville.
The company has also been referenced in broader industry reporting on the use of artificial intelligence in building operations, including coverage by Facilities Dive.[6]
XOi’s funding activity has also been noted in venture capital reporting, including Crunchbase News.[7]
