Lead William Seth Allen Jr. (also credited as Billy Allen, William S. Allen Jr., and William Allen) is an American songwriter, guitarist, vocalist, keyboardist, producer, and session musician who has lived and worked in Germany for much of his professional career. He is known for songwriting contributions to Cameo's 1990 album Real Men... Wear Black, including the Billboard-charting song 'I Want It Now', and for recording and performance work with German artists including Hausmarke, DJ Thomilla and Die Fantastischen Vier. Early life and military service Allen served in the United States military before remaining in Germany, where he established his professional music career. Career After leaving military service, Allen began working professionally in Germany as a guitarist, keyboardist, vocalist, songwriter and producer. In 1990 he co-wrote 'I Want It Now' and 'Close Quarters' for Cameo's album Real Men... Wear Black. 'I Want It Now' reached No. 5 on Billboard's Hot Black Singles chart and Allen received ASCAP recognition for his songwriting contribution. Allen later collaborated with Hausmarke (Michi Beck), DJ Thomilla, Die Fantastischen Vier, YoCo Ross and others, contributing songwriting, guitar, keyboards, vocals, arranging, production and session performance. He also participated in projects associated with Deutsche Telekom and continued recording and performing in Germany. Television Allen appeared in German television features connected with recording projects and later in an SWR feature concerning musicians during the COVID-19 period.
