Volodymyr Oleksandrovych Borysov (born 13 December 1982, Dnipro) is a Ukrainian comedian, actor and writer. He is a co-founder of the Dnepr KVN team, which competed in the Major League of KVN and the League of Laughter.[1]
Biography
[edit]Volodymyr was born on 13 December 1982 in the city of Dnipro. During his senior school years, he studied at a lyceum affiliated with the DIIT, where he later enrolled. He studied from 2000 to 2005 and obtained a degree in economics and computer programming.
After graduating from university, he worked in his field at a bank; after a week, he asked them to "burn the documents".[2] He also had experience selling computers and worked for almost a year in the organizational department of a district city council.
Eventually, he chose a career as a comedian and became a vice-champion of KVN and a winner of the Winter Cup of the League of Laughter.
Comedy career

[edit]While still at school, Volodymyr participated in amateur artistic competitions, performing and doing parodies. At the institute, in 2000, he began playing KVN for his university team, Zheleznyye Dorozhniki. He later joined the team Nasha Ulitsa.[3]
In 2005, he became one of the co-founders of the KVN team Dnepr. The team subsequently competed in the Ukrainian Major League of KVN, the Premier League of KVN and the Major League of KVN.[4] They played in:
- the Ukrainian Major League of KVN (2005–2009);
- the Premier League of KVN (2008);
- the Major League of KVN (2010–2013);
- Singing KiViN (2010, 2012–2014).
In 2013, Dnepr reached the final of the Major League of KVN.[5] The team became the first Ukrainian team since 1997 to reach the Major League final.[6] After that season, the team ended its career in the Major League.
The Dnepr team was known for its duo "Igor and Lena", in which Volodymyr played the female part.[7] They humorously portrayed the life of a married couple. The duo later gave rise to the sketch comedy series Simeika U.
Outside Ukraine and Russia, the team toured other countries, including Kyrgyzstan and Germany.[8]
League of Laughter
[edit]After ending their KVN career, the team members began participating in various individual projects. In 2019, the team entered the fifth season of the League of Laughter.[9] The team immediately became a favorite. The appearance of well-known Ukrainian comedy teams in the project was not new; Odessa Gentlemen, Vinnytski and VIP Ternopil had already appeared in the competition, but they were somewhat less popular and recognizable than the Dnepr team.[10]
In total, Volodymyr played with the team in:
- the Summer Cup of the League of Laughter (2016);
- the Winter Cups (2016, 2017; 2019 – winners);
- the League of Laughter season (2019).
Other activities
[edit]In addition to performing, Volodymyr worked as a comedy editor. In 2017, he was the chief editor of the League of Laughter at Igor Sikorsky Kyiv Polytechnic Institute.[11] He helped teams develop their potential and directly assisted in creating jokes.[12]
Under his supervision, the following KVN leagues were held: Vostok.ua (2014–2018), Moldova (2016–2018)[13], and Sagacitas (2017–2018). In the KVN Moldova league, he worked as an editor.[14] [15] In the League of Laughter, he edited the Odessa League, Zaporizhzhia League, Kyiv Student League, and KPI League of Laughter.
He hosted events such as birthdays, weddings, New Year's celebrations, and other events.

Personal life

[edit]He is married to Natalia Mykolaivna Borysova (born 16 July 1982). They have two daughters: Anastasiia (born 2010) and Anna (born 2020). His father is Oleksandr Borysovych, and his mother is Olha Vasylivna.
He has no hobbies and prefers spending time with his family.
