Venkatesh Merwade is an Indian-American researcher and educator who specializes in the area of surface water hydrology. His primary areas of expertise include the use of geographic information systems (GIS), remote sensing and development of cyberinfrastructure to improve hydrologic modeling. He has developed techniques for creating synthetic river bathymetry in improve flood modeling and mapping.
