Uparbeda (also spelled Uperbeda[1][2]) is a village in the block of Mayurbhanj district, Odisha, India.[1][2] Droupadi Murmu, the current President of India, was born here.[3][4]
Geography
[edit]Uparbeda lies on about 280 km from Bhubaneswar, the state capital. [5] The village covers 500 hectares and its census code 388242.[1][2]
Demographics
[edit]As per the 2011 Census of India, Uparbeda is home to 2314 people living in 841 households.[1][2] The village is predominantly Santhal tribal.[3][4][6]
History
[edit]The village has a notable political history.[5][vague] Kartik Charan Majhi was elected to the Odisha Legislative Assembly In 1967, and Bhabendra Nath Murmu followed in 1985.[5]
In December 2024, President Droupadi Murmu made her first trip back to Uparbeda after taking office.[7]
