Comment: Plainly not notable. Sources in draft do not meet WP:SIGCOV. Some do not mention the song at all. Coverage of the song itself is trivial. M4V3R1CK32 (talk) 00:22, 3 November 2023 (UTC)

"Until I End Up Dead" is a song by American YouTuber Dream and the lead single from his debut EP To Whoever Wants To Hear, written alongside Andrew Goldstein and Joe Kirkland. The song was released by Republic and Mercury Records on June 23, 2023.[1] The song is a pop rock song that tackles the topic of death, made as a tribute to fellow YouTuber Technoblade. It peaked at number 34 on the NZ Hot Singles chart.[2]
Background
[edit]On 30 June 2022, YouTuber and member of the Dream SMP Technoblade was reported as having died from metastatic sarcoma.[3] Following Technoblade's death, Dream donated US$21,409 to cancer research in a campaign started by Technoblade shortly after he was diagnosed.[4] A year after Technoblade's death, Dream released this song, dedicated to him[5][6], saying that "Until I End Up Dead’ is about enjoying every moment that life gives you because you never know when life will end, and it’s really important to live yours to its fullest. The song is special to me because I was able to take two really serious events that impacted me and my community and put them into a song that I think is really meaningful. The passing of my friend’s mom when I was a kid and also the passing of Technoblade, one of the largest streamers in the space at the time, had a major impact on my life and made me realize how quickly life can change, and how important it is to enjoy the moment, your friends, and your family", according to Dream.[7][8]
Composition
[edit]"Until I End Up Dead" is a mid-tempo pop rock[1] song that is "about reflecting on life and appreciating the things that really matter, like your friends, family, and loved ones, because you never know when they’ll be gone, or when you will be", according to Dream on Twitter.
The song is written in E major. It's main chord progression is A/E/B/C#m. The time signature is 4/4 and its tempo is 138 beats per minute.[9] The song was written by Dream, Andrew Goldstein, and Joe Kirkland and produced by Goldstein, with vocals by Dream.
This song, along with upcoming singles from Dream, is part of a new extended play (EP), To Whoever Wants To Hear, consisting of seven songs.[10] The EP was announced along with the second single, Everest.[citation needed]
Critical reception
[edit]Musician and YouTuber Charles Duncan Green V (better known as CG5), when commenting on the music video of the song, said that he would be listening to this until [he] ends up dead. The song and its music video also received positive reviews from fans.[11] The song also peaked at number 34 on the NZ Hot Singles chart.[2]
