Tulip Mundansa
[edit]
Tulip Mundansa is an American creator, artist, entrepreneur, and community builder best known as the founder of The SkyBean Café. She is also the creator behind the virtual persona TuliSodaPop, who serves as the public-facing representative and Café Keeper of The SkyBean Café universe.
Tulip's work focuses on themes of kindness, creativity, comfort, healing, and community. Through The SkyBean Café, she has sought to create a welcoming environment where people can connect, express themselves creatively, and find a sense of belonging."The SkyBean Café Official Website". Early Life
[edit]Tulip Mundansa experienced a difficult childhood marked by instability, neglect, and abuse. Throughout her early years, she and her siblings frequently faced circumstances that left them feeling isolated, unsupported, and unsafe.
As a child, Tulip found comfort in creativity and artistic expression. Drawing became an important outlet, allowing her to create worlds of her own when reality felt overwhelming. Over time, she explored many artistic mediums including illustration, doll making, cross-stitching, crochet, knitting, and other forms of creative expression.
Her interest in art expanded after being introduced to various historical art forms during school, inspiring her to experiment with new creative techniques and mediums. Creativity would become one of the most important constants throughout her life.
After multiple interventions by child protective services, Tulip spent portions of her childhood in foster care and group home environments. Although many of these experiences were difficult and often times just as abusive, they would later influence her desire to create safe, welcoming spaces for others.
Education
[edit]Following placement with foster parent Traudel Weaver, whom Tulip later referred to as her mother, she experienced greater stability and academic success.
During this period she became dual-enrolled in both high school and college courses and graduated with college credits.
Tulip has frequently credited Traudel Weaver with providing support, encouragement, and opportunities that helped shape her future.
Family and Personal Life
[edit]At age eighteen, Tulip became a mother. She has described motherhood as one of the most important and transformative experiences of her life.
Later, she met her future spouse. The two first encountered one another while Tulip was working at a gas station before reconnecting months later through a dating platform. After realizing they had met previously, their relationship quickly developed, and they have remained together since 2012.
Together they have built a family and raised children while supporting one another through life's challenges.
Tulip has spoken openly about living with both physical and mental health disabilities. She is neurodivergent and has navigated a variety of lifelong health challenges, many of which stem from childhood trauma and complications related to prenatal substance exposure.
These experiences have shaped her perspective on accessibility, compassion, mental health awareness, and the importance of creating supportive communities. They have also influenced the mission of The SkyBean Café, which seeks to provide a welcoming environment where people can feel accepted, understood, and valued regardless of their personal circumstances or struggles.
Despite ongoing health challenges, Tulip continues to pursue creative projects, community-building initiatives, and the long-term development of The SkyBean Café."The SkyBean Café Instagram". Retrieved 2026-06-09.
Inspiration for The SkyBean Café
[edit]In 2018, following the death of her foster mother, Traudel Weaver, Tulip experienced a period of profound grief and depression. The loss had a significant impact on her mental health and contributed to one of the most difficult periods of her life.
Despite the support of her spouse, Tulip struggled with the combined effects of grief, trauma, and pre-existing mental health challenges. During this time, she experienced a severe mental health crisis that ultimately resulted in hospitalization following a suicide attempt.
During her recovery, her spouse introduced her to the social adventure game Sky: Children of the Light. The game provided a creative and emotional outlet during a time when she was searching for hope, comfort, and connection.
The experience would later become one of the primary inspirations behind The SkyBean Café.
While Tulip found the themes of kindness, cooperation, and community deeply meaningful, she also observed that some community spaces could feel intimidating or unwelcoming to newcomers. These experiences reinforced her belief that everyone deserves a place where they can feel accepted regardless of their background, experience level, personal circumstances, or struggles.
Inspired by both the positive experiences and challenges she encountered, Tulip began envisioning a community built around openness, kindness, creativity, and belonging.
This vision would eventually evolve into The SkyBean Café.
According to Tulip, one of the guiding principles behind the project is that everyone should feel welcomed and loved. Whether someone is struggling, healing, creating, learning, or simply looking for companionship, they should be able to find a seat at the table.
The SkyBean Café was created with the goal of becoming the kind of safe and welcoming space that Tulip herself had spent much of her life searching for."The SkyBean Café Ko-Fi". Retrieved 2026-06-09.
Career
[edit]Throughout her life, Tulip has pursued a variety of creative interests including visual art, storytelling, character design, content creation, community building, and digital media.
She eventually began creating online content through livestreaming and social media platforms. These efforts gradually evolved into a larger creative project that would become The SkyBean Café.
As the project expanded, Tulip developed original characters, community initiatives, recipe projects, cookbook concepts, websites, and other creative works that would become part of the growing SkyBean Café universe.
The SkyBean Café
[edit]Tulip Mundansa created The SkyBean Café as a response to many of the struggles she experiences and has experienced throughout her life.
Having experienced loneliness, isolation, trauma, grief, and a lack of safe spaces during much of her childhood and adulthood, she wanted to build a community where people could feel welcomed, supported, and valued.
The SkyBean Café was designed around the idea of a cozy café in the clouds where creativity, kindness, and community come together.
According to Tulip, the goal of the project is to create a place where people can feel:
- Seen
- Heard
- Valued
- Welcome
- Part of a family
The project has expanded to include original characters, community initiatives, recipe sharing, cookbook development, livestreaming content, creative projects, and plans for future growth.
Philosophy
[edit]Tulip has often stated that kindness, creativity, and community are the foundation of The SkyBean Café.
Drawing from her own experiences with trauma, grief, disability, and isolation, she believes that everyone deserves a place where they feel welcomed, valued, and supported.
This philosophy became the guiding principle behind The SkyBean Café and continues to influence its community projects, creative works, cookbook initiatives, and future plans.
Legacy and Vision
[edit]Tulip has stated that her long-term vision for The SkyBean Café extends beyond its online presence.
One of her goals is to eventually establish a physical SkyBean Café that reflects the same values as the online community: kindness, creativity, comfort, acceptance, and belonging.
Her work continues to focus on building spaces where people can find encouragement, connection, and community regardless of their background or personal challenges.
