Tristan Post (born 29 August 1990) is a German artificial intelligence strategist, author, and educator based in Munich. He is the founder and CEO of the AI Strategy Institute, a lecturer on the management of AI at the Technical University of Munich (TUM), and an external faculty member for AI and generative AI at Boston Consulting Group (BCG).[1][2]
Early life and education
[edit]Post was born in Frankfurt am Main. He earned a Bachelor of Science in Economics and Management from the Free University of Bozen-Bolzano, graduating cum laude and completing exchange semesters in Turin, Lugano, and Kaohsiung.[1] He later obtained a Master of Science in Economics and Philosophy from the London School of Economics.[1]
He also completed six months of basic military service with the Bundeswehr Mountain Infantry Gebirgsjäger in Bad Reichenhall.[1]
Career
[edit]Academic and early career
[edit]From 2017 to 2019, Post worked as a teaching fellow and research assistant in economics at the London School of Economics, contributing to research with Adair Turner on the economic impact of artificial intelligence.[1] After returning to Germany, he lectured on AI-related topics at Technical University of Munich, Munich Business School and other institutions.[3]
In 2019, he joined deepc, a medical AI company working on AI-based radiology applications, where he acted as a product manager and interface between medical stakeholders and technical teams.[4]
AI strategy and consulting
[edit]Post later became Senior AI Strategist at appliedAI (UnternehmerTUM) and AI Lead at AI Founders, an AI startup incubation programme in Heilbronn.[5] In these roles he advised startups and corporates on AI adoption, strategy and governance, and supported ecosystem-building activities in Germany and Europe.[6]
In 2022, he founded the AI Strategy Institute, a Munich-based advisory firm focused on AI strategy, literacy and capability building for organisations and public institutions. His portfolio includes an AI strategic positioning paper for the City of Munich, work on the “KI-Kompass” roadmap for small and medium-sized enterprises, and advisory work for the Standing Conference of Ministers of Education (KMK) on language-model procurement for schools.[7]
International work
[edit]Post has worked with the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) as an AI strategy and literacy consultant in the AI Country Enablement Program. He appeared on UNDP Turkmenistan’s podcast Let’s Talk Digital: AI Is Changing Everything, which was promoted by UNDP Eurasia and UNDPTM social media channels.[8][9][10][11]
He is listed as a speaker and innovation contributor on the ITU AI for Good Innovation Factory platform.[12]
Academic roles
[edit]Post teaches management-focused AI courses at the Technical University of Munich, covering generative AI, AI governance, product development and the EU AI Act.[3] He has also appeared as a speaker at TYPO3 Conference 2025,[13] German Data Science Days,[14] FH Salzburg’s Digital Talk series,[15] and other events on AI and digital transformation.[16]
Since 2023, he has served as external faculty for AI and generative AI at Boston Consulting Group.[2]
Public roles
[edit]Post is a member of the Standing Committee (Ständiger Ausschuss) of the KI Bundesverband, Germany’s largest AI association.[17] His appointment was announced in 2025 and highlighted in KI Bundesverband communications.[18]
He was elected to the Vollversammlung of the IHK München in the 2026 chamber elections, running in Wahlgruppe 13 (IT and telecommunications).[19] His candidacy materials refer to his work with UNDP and BCG.[20]
In Austria, he has spoken at the Austrian Parliament on AI applications in the economy.[21] He has also appeared at WKO Vorarlberg events on AI and business transformation.[22]
Publications
[edit]Post is the author of AI Native: Strategien für eine neue Generation von Unternehmen, published by Carl Hanser Verlag in April 2026.[23] The book discusses how organisations can implement AI at an operating-system level.
A second book, 10 harte Wahrheiten über Künstliche Intelligenz, co-authored with Klaus Madzia, is scheduled for publication by Börsenmedien AG in October 2026.[24][25]
He has written guest articles on AI in banking for Der Bank Blog[26][27] and on AI for startups for Munich Startup.[4]
