Top Gun 3 is an upcoming American action drama film written by Ehren Kruger and Christopher McQuarrie. It serves as the sequel to Top Gun: Maverick (2022). It stars Tom Cruise and Glen Powell.
Cast

- Glen Powell as LT Jake "Hangman" Seresin: An F/A-18E pilot and mission candidate.
Production
[edit]Development of a third Top Gun film at Paramount Pictures was reported in January 2024,[1] after beginning development the previous fall.[2] Ehren Kruger was writing the script for the film with plans to have Tom Cruise, Miles Teller and Glen Powell reprise their roles from Top Gun: Maverick (2022). Joseph Kosinski is set to return to either direct or produce the film, which also has returning producers Jerry Bruckheimer and David Ellison.[3] In November 2024, it was revealed that Powell would reprise his role as LT Jake "Hangman" Seresin.[4] In May 2025, Christopher McQuarrie revealed that the story for the film had been written.[5] In April 2026, it was announced that the third film was officially in the works.[6]
