Comment: For living people it is important to follow WP:BLP with inline citations. See WP:REFB to learn how to do this. At the moment it's not possible to review the draft since we can't verify the information. Some of the wording also looks a bit AI in style (Grammarly?), if so that will also have to be reworded. Tim Mulligan is an American playwright and author of graphic novels, cookbooks, and books on organizational leadership. He is the creator of the World of Witchland series of supernatural horror graphic novels and the playwright of Witchland, Point Loma, and Pig Butchered. His work frequently combines horror and supernatural themes with settings and subjects drawn from the Pacific Northwest and Southern California.
Early life and career
[edit]Mulligan was raised in Richland, Washington, a city associated with the Hanford nuclear site. He attended Washington State University, graduating in 1990 with a degree in hospitality business management. He subsequently pursued a career in human resources and organizational leadership.
Mulligan began writing fiction during the COVID-19 pandemic, when he began developing material that would eventually become his Witchland series. In an interview with Washington State Magazine[1], he described beginning creative writing in his mid-50s after previously working primarily in business and human resources.
Writing career
[edit]Theater
[edit]Mulligan's first produced play was Witchland, a horror play inspired in part by his childhood in Richland and the history of the Hanford nuclear site. The play premiered in San Diego in 2021 with Backyard Renaissance Theatre Company. Times of San Diego described Mulligan as a first-time playwright and noted that the play drew on his experiences growing up in Richland.[2]
Witchland subsequently received productions in Palm Springs and New York.[3] A 2024 production at the Revolution Stage Company in Palm Springs preceded an Off-Broadway production at the Chain Theatre in Manhattan with Manhattan Repertory Theatre. BroadwayWorld described the work as combining fact and fiction with immersive horror elements. [4]
Mulligan's second produced play, Point Loma, is a supernatural horror play based on experiences involving a historic house in San Diego. The play received its world premiere in New York in 2025.[5] NBC Palm Springs subsequently reported on a Palm Springs production of Point Loma following its New York run.[6]
Mulligan's most recent play, Pig Butchered, will have it's World Premiere in December 2026 at the R[7]evolution Stage Company in Palm Springs.
Graphic novels
[edit]Mulligan is the creator and writer of the World of Witchland series of graphic novels, illustrated by the artist Pyrink and published by Highpoint Lit. The series originated with the Witchland stage play and subsequently expanded into graphic novels. [8]
The series includes Witchland: The Graphic Novel, Snitchland: The Graphic Novel, Twitchland: The Graphic Novel, and Ditchland: The Graphic Novel. The stories are set primarily in and around a fictionalized version of Richland, Washington, and incorporate supernatural horror with themes involving the legacy of the Hanford nuclear site.
Professional reviews of the series have appeared in publications including Kirkus Reviews. The review of Snitchland described the book as a story concerning mysterious illnesses and hazardous working conditions, while noting its supernatural elements.[9]
Ditchland, the fourth published installment, was released in September 2026. [10]
Other books
[edit]Mulligan is also the author of the A Perfect 10 cookbook series and Roar: How to Build a Resilient Organization the World Famous San Diego Zoo Way.[11]
Personal life
[edit]Mulligan is based in Southern California. His writing frequently draws upon places and experiences associated with both his childhood in Richland and his life in the San Diego and Palm Springs areas.
