The Thermal Explorer Highway is a 435-kilometre (270 mi) tourist road route in New Zealand, connecting the cities of Auckland and Napier via the geothermally active central North Island. The name "Thermal Explorer" is named as such because of the geothermally active regions the route passes through, such as Rotorua and Taupō.[1]
