Filmmaker and photographer Carl Sundström started doing documentary-inspired horror narratives in 2019. In a statement he said:

The found footage genre has always thrived on reinvention. Every few years, a film emerges that doesn’t just participate in the genre, it redefines how audiences experience fear through it. The Waiting Man is built on that exact philosophy.[1]

The film was produced by Spying Moth Entertainment and NPE Productions.

The film was premiered at PUFA film festival on July 9, 2026,[2] Horror Fest Film Festival on September 24-27, 2026,[3] and at Toronto Indie Horror Fest on October 8, 2026.[4][5]
