Temidayo Akenroye is an academic specialising in sustainable supply chain management.[1] He is an associate professor of supply chain and analytics in the Ed G. Smith College of Business at the University of Missouri–St. Louis (UMSL).[2] His research concerns the use of supply chain management to address sustainable development problems, including health supply chains in Africa, public procurement and small business participation, and fairness in food supply chains.[3][4]
Education
[edit]Akenroye took a Higher National Diploma in geology engineering at the Federal Polytechnic, Ado-Ekiti, in 2002 and a postgraduate diploma in shipping and maritime logistics at the Maritime Academy of Nigeria in 2004.[3] He then moved to England, where he completed an MSc in supply chain management at the University of Salford in 2007 and a PhD in supply chain management at the same university in 2018.[3][2] He also completed a master's degree in sustainability leadership at the University of Cambridge in 2018.[3]
Career
[edit]Before entering academia, Akenroye worked as a senior manager in public procurement and supply chains in the United Kingdom's National Health Service.[5] He was later a senior lecturer in procurement and supply chain management at Liverpool John Moores University.[6] He subsequently joined UMSL, where he is an associate professor in the Department of Supply Chain and Analytics.[2]
He is a senior visiting fellow at Lagos Business School and an academic adviser to the Kuehne Foundation in Germany, and he sits on the Peer Review College of the British Academy of Management.[3] He has served as special adviser on public health supply chain initiatives to Cooper/Smith, a global health organisation.[7]
Research
[edit]In the 2020–21 round of the British Academy/Leverhulme Small Research Grants, Akenroye received funding for a project on building a data-driven culture in Nigeria's blood supply chain.[6] His work on health supply chains also covers supply chain coordination in epidemic response, which he has written about for the World Economic Forum with Marcia Mkansi.[8]
With Adegboyega Oyedijo, he has published on bargaining power and fairness in food supply chains. Their article for The Conversation was republished by the World Economic Forum in 2023.[9] He has also written for the Migration Policy Institute on the economic value of the time migrants spend supporting their countries of origin.[10]
He was a guest editor, with Walid Klibi, Lester Brian Shawa and Marcia Mkansi, of a special issue of Supply Chain Forum: An International Journal on supply chains in Africa.[11] He has commented on supply chain issues for Al Jazeera and BBC News,[3] and in 2026 he spoke at the Hamburg Sustainability Conference.[1]
