ShankuChakra Exports (trading as ShankuChakra) is an Indian merchant exporter and sourcing partner based in West Mambalam, Chennai, Tamil Nadu. It supplies Indian spices, coir-based growing media and specialty agricultural products to importers, mainly in the Middle East, Southeast Asia and Europe.[1] The name refers to the Shankha (conch) and chakra (discus), emblems of the Hindu deity Vishnu.
History
[edit]ShankuChakra was established in Chennai as a sole proprietorship by Shanmukha Raju Y. A trade directory listing gives 2009 as its year of establishment, when it traded in pulses, grains and rice.[2]
The business obtained its Importer-Exporter Code from the Directorate General of Foreign Trade in 2011, which it cites as the start of its export operations.[1][3] It registered under the Goods and Services Tax when GST was introduced in 2017.[3]
The firm later focused on spices, coir growing media and specialty farm products, and began offering private label supply alongside bulk export.[3]
Products
[edit]| Group | Products |
|---|---|
| Spices | Turmeric, dry red chilli, coriander, black pepper, cumin, cardamom, dry ginger, fennel seeds, fenugreek seeds |
| Spice blends | Garam masala, sambar powder |
| Growing media | Coco peat, coir pith |
| Specialty and agricultural products | Moringa leaf powder and seeds, non-basmati rice (Sona Masoori, Ponni, IR 64), sesame seeds, millets, tamarind |
Quality and registrations
[edit]The company follows a specification-first sourcing model, agreeing grade, moisture and other parameters with buyers at the enquiry stage. Laboratory analysis is arranged according to product, buyer specification and destination-market rules, and shipments are checked before container loading.[4]
It holds an Importer-Exporter Code, registration with the Agricultural and Processed Food Products Export Development Authority (APEDA), Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI) registration, GST and Udyam (MSME) registration, and an AD Code for export foreign-exchange transactions.[4]
Markets
[edit]ShankuChakra exports mainly to the United Arab Emirates, Saudi Arabia, Qatar and Oman in the Middle East; Singapore and Malaysia in Southeast Asia; and the Netherlands, Germany and the United Kingdom in Europe.[1] As a merchant exporter, it sources from Indian growers and processors rather than operating its own farms or plants.
