Scutum Group (French: Groupe Scutum) is a French security services group specialising in electronic security, fire protection, remote monitoring, international risk management and cyber security. Established in 1989, it operates in Europe and the United States.[2][3] Its registered office is in the 8th arrondissement of Paris, and its chief executive officer is Franck Namy.[1][2]

In April 2026, the group reported more than 3,000 employees and over 450,000 monitored connections.[2]

History

[edit]

Early development and expansion in France

[edit]

Scutum developed from a regional remote monitoring business into a national security services provider during the 1990s.[4] Franck Namy became chief executive in 1992. The group's subsequent acquisitions included electronic security businesses and operations of G4S and Égide in 2008.[3]

In 2010, Scutum acquired Sécurité Sans Frontière, a company specialising in international risk management, and renamed it Scutum Security First (SSF).[5] In 2011, it acquired France Incendie, a manufacturer of fire extinguishers and provider of fire safety services for businesses and public authorities.[6] The group acquired Satif and Fire&Co in 2015.[7]

In 2022, Scutum acquired Ivoxe, which specialises in remote monitoring and security for road freight transport.[8] In 2023, it acquired Fichet-Bauche Télésurveillance, a provider of remote monitoring services for sensitive sites,[9] and the Operations division of Risk&Co-Anticip. The latter's activities included travel risk management, business intelligence, country risk analysis and security support in high-risk locations.[10]

Expansion in Europe

[edit]

Scutum entered Germany in 2011 by acquiring control of Inform Solutions GmbH, a supplier of video surveillance and access control systems, particularly for banking networks.[11] It acquired Ceulemans Security in Belgium in 2015.[7]

Also in 2015, Scutum established a presence in the United Kingdom through a merger with Oxford-based Orion Security Solutions.[12] It acquired the Edinburgh-based Fire Protection Group (FPG) in 2017,[7] followed by Elite Fire Protection and Securi-Guard in 2018.[13][14] Electro Guard Fire & Security, based in Dundee, joined the group in July 2022.[15] McElwaine Security Services in Northern Ireland came under Scutum Group UK Limited's control in November 2024.[16] In 2025, Scutum acquired IDS Fire & Security and Black Box Group, expanding its operations in northern England.[17][18]

In 2023, Scutum acquired three international subsidiaries of TEB: TEB GmbH in Germany, TEB Polska in Poland and TEB Ibérica in Spain.[19] Its subsequent German acquisitions included Alinotec GmbH & Co. KG in 2025, a provider of security systems for industrial, construction and public-sector customers,[20] and Alarm- und Sicherheitstechnik B.W. GmbH in 2026.[21]

In Spain, the integration of TEB Ibérica, APT Instalaciones, Grupo SEA and Kosmos Group between 2023 and 2025 brought together the businesses operating as Scutum Iberia. The combined business was presented to the Spanish market in 2026.[22]

Scutum entered Italy in 2024 through the acquisition of Multiprotexion, which provides transport security, fleet telematics and remote video monitoring for the transport and logistics sectors.[23] In 2026, it acquired Elettron, a company based in the Brescia area specialising in the design, installation and maintenance of security and fire protection systems.[24]

In 2026, the Danish company ABS Alarm & Sikkerhed A/S joined Scutum Group, extending the group's presence into Denmark.[25]

Expansion in North America

[edit]

In 2020, Scutum entered the United States through the acquisition of a controlling interest in High Rise Fire & Security in New York. At the time, High Rise served more than 1,900 high-rise buildings and used monitoring facilities approved by the New York City Fire Department for commercial fire alarms.[26]

Statewide Central Station joined Scutum North America in 2021, adding central station monitoring services.[27] In 2023, Forest Security and Thompson Electronics Company joined the group, expanding its presence in Illinois. Thompson provided electronic systems for audiovisual communication, healthcare, education, fire alarms and security.[28]

In 2024, Scutum announced the integration of Affordable Alarm and Monitoring Inc. (AAMI) in Florida,[29] followed by Visentry, a New Jersey-based provider of remote guarding services using artificial intelligence.[30]

Activities

[edit]

Electronic security and fire protection

[edit]

Scutum designs, installs and maintains security and fire protection systems. Its services include video surveillance, access control, intrusion detection and fire detection, together with maintenance and monitoring.[20] It serves businesses and public-sector organisations, with customers in sectors including banking, industry, logistics and retail.[9][10]

Remote monitoring

[edit]

The group operates remote monitoring services for buildings and transport operations. Fichet-Bauche Télésurveillance brought two monitoring centres, in Vélizy-Villacoublay and Saint-Laurent-du-Var, into the group in 2023.[9] Ivoxe provides services including remote video monitoring, vehicle tracking and communications for road freight operators.[8]

Scutum also operates the Scutum Smart Security Platform, which combines artificial intelligence software with human monitoring.[23]

International security and cyber security

[edit]

Through Scutum Security First, the group provides international risk management services, including travel security, country risk analysis, business intelligence, crisis management and support for expatriates.[5] The integration of Risk&Co-Anticip's Operations division expanded these activities in 2023.[10] Cyber security is another of the group's business areas.[3]

Certifications

[edit]

At the time of their acquisition, the remote monitoring centres operated by Ivoxe and Fichet-Bauche Télésurveillance held APSAD P5 certification.[8][9] Scutum Security First states that its digital travel risk management services, including its tracking platform and mobile application, have held ISO/IEC 27001 certification since 2016.[31]

International presence

[edit]

The group's European operations include France, Germany, the United Kingdom, Ireland, Belgium, the Netherlands, Austria, Switzerland, Poland, Portugal, Italy and Spain.[3] Its Danish expansion followed in 2026.[25] Scutum North America is headquartered in New York City and operates in the United States, including in New York, Florida and Illinois.[28]

Organisation and ownership

[edit]

The French holding company, Scutum, is registered as a société par actions simplifiée (SAS), with its registered office in Paris.[1]

In April 2026, Goldman Sachs Alternatives announced a minority investment in Scutum Group.[2] CFNEWS described the transaction as a new leveraged buyout, involving Goldman Sachs Asset Management.[32]
