Sasha Di Capri (born 29 June 1979) is a German-born actor, singer and songwriter. He has worked primarily in musical theatre in Germany, Austria and Switzerland. His stage roles have included Judas Iscariot in Jesus Christ Superstar, Nick Hurley in Flashdance, Drew Boley and Stacee Jaxx in Rock of Ages, Roger Davis in Rent, Danny Zuko in Grease, Radames in Elton John and Tim Rice's Aida, Moses in The Ten Commandments, and the Beast in Beauty and the Beast. He also performed as a walk-in for Aaron Burr, George Washington and King George III in the German-language production of Hamilton in Hamburg.

His screen work includes Verliebt in Berlin, Alles was zählt, The Key, Deathcember, Holy Marvels with Dennis Quaid and Immortal Combat.

Early life and training

Di Capri was born on 29 June 1979 in Fulda, Germany, where he grew up. He has Macedonian, Greek and Italian family roots. [1][2] [3]

He attended the Stage School of Music, Dance and Drama in Hamburg and later continued his acting and vocal training. His professional training has included the Ivana Chubbuck acting technique, Estill Voice Training and bel canto.[4]

Theatre

Di Capri appeared in the Cologne production of Queen and Ben Elton's musical We Will Rock You from 2006 to 2008, where he covered the role of J.B. [5]

From 2008 to 2010, he appeared in the Vienna production of Rudolf – Affaire Mayerling as Georges Clemenceau and covered the title role of Crown Prince Rudolf. [6]

He subsequently played the Beast in Beauty and the Beast in 2010–2011 and Radames in the 2011 Clingenburg Festspiele production of Elton John and Tim Rice's Aida. [7][8]

In 2011–2012, he played Danny Zuko in Grease. His roles in 2012 included Jim Farrell in Titanic and Moses in The Ten Commandments. [4][9] From 2012 to 2015, he worked as a swing in the original Hamburg production of Rocky, which had its world premiere in 2012. [10]

In 2015, Di Capri played Jonathan Diver in Paradise of Pain at the Saarländisches Staatstheater and Roger Davis in Rent at Theater Trier. [11][12]

In 2016, he appeared in the Vereinigte Bühnen Wien production of Evita at the Ronacher in Vienna as Agustín Magaldi and also performed the role of Che. [4]

Di Capri has portrayed Judas Iscariot in several productions of Jesus Christ Superstar, including productions in Trier and Vienna and the 2025 Komische Oper Berlin production at Tempelhof Airport. [13][14] [15][16]

In 2018, he played Drew Boley in Rock of Ages and Nick Hurley in Flashdance. [17][18] He later worked as a walk-in cover for AJ, Joey and Robbie in Cirque du Soleil's Paramour in Hamburg. [19]

In 2022, Di Capri appeared as Walter Hartright in Andrew Lloyd Webber's The Woman in White. [20] He subsequently joined the German-language production of Hamilton at the Stage Operettenhaus in Hamburg as a walk-in for Aaron Burr, George Washington and King George III. [4]

In 2024, he returned to Rock of Ages, this time portraying Stacee Jaxx. [21]

Concert work

From 2011, Di Capri appeared as a vocal soloist in the touring concert production Musical Rocks!, with performances in Austria, Germany and Switzerland. He continued to appear with the production during subsequent tours, including its 2015 German tour. [22][23]

Di Capri also appeared as a concert soloist in a series of rock, musical and film-music concerts led by composer Frank Nimsgern, including Rock Musical Circus, Rock Musical Classics, Best of Classics and Cinema Classics. His concert repertoire has included music by Queen. [24][25]

Film and television

Di Capri appeared in the German television series Verliebt in Berlin in 2005. [26] His later screen work includes Joey in The Key, Carlos Vega in Alles was zählt, Mr. Brown in Deathcember, and Samson and Hippolytus in the second season of Holy Marvels with Dennis Quaid. [27][28][29]

In 2026, he portrayed Attila the Hun in the feature film Immortal Combat. [30] His screen work that year also included the vertical productions Rise of the Caged King as Lead Operator, Heartbreak High: Revenge on My First Love as Marcus, and That Missing Rockstar Is My Husband as Dax.[31]

Music

In 2016, Di Capri was a singer in a music project whose album Ein ewiger Kreis was released through Electrola, a division of Universal Music GmbH. He was also credited as a songwriter on the album track "Meine Seele weint". [32][33]

He wrote and performed the songs "Gonna Get Ya" and "Show Me" for the film The Key.[34]
