Comment: Could use a lot more sourcing in Career, and a rewrite of it may help as well. Better sources are needed as well; Spotify and some others are not reliable. HazelAlbertSheriff (talk) 18:26, 3 April 2026 (UTC)
Comment: Unsure how commenting here works. I am the one taking over on this article from the previous user with their consent (as was the agreement with Mitich herself). I expanded upon the career section, found more appropriate resources (that are not Spotify or Youtube). Any comments are appreciated as finding "notable" sources outside of interviews and on her own personal website are not as frequent as I wish they would be. As for citing summaries in said career section, the only things I could think of were using the information within the episodes/movies themselves but looking around other WP articles doesn't really seem to answer my questions as to how that's done. The formatting for the table itself is a little confusing, so if anyone is able to shed some light on that, I would tremendously appreciate that. ExeJayce (talk) 20:29, 4 September 2026 (UTC)

Sara Mitich (born November 26, 1988) is a Canadian actress who is best known for her roles in Star Trek: Discovery, The Expanse, and Murdoch Mysteries. Mitich is the host of Gratitude & Growth,[1] and the author of 21 Days of Gratitude: Simple Exercises for a More Positive Life.[1]
Early life
[edit]Sara Mitich was born in 1988 in Hamilton, Ontario, Canada[2] and she is the youngest out of three girls. Her parents are from Serbia. She wanted to be a ballerina from a young age, and she attended the National Ballet School of Canada. As an adult, she attended the University of Toronto and Sheridan college for acting. She starred in various short films, such as Mind Games, Plastic, and Prick.[2]
Career
[edit]Murdoch Mysteries
[edit]In Murdoch Mysteries, Mitich portrays Lillian Moss, a suffragette attempting to flee from her past life. Her character, Moss, and potential romantic partner, Emily Grace—played by actor Georgina Reilly —meet while protesting for women's rights, and the two grow close while working together. The pair decide to move to London, England, although Mitich's character is killed before the pair are able to leave Toronto.[2]
The Expanse
[edit]In The Expanse, Mitich portrays a character named Gia, a prostitute who appears in four episodes of season one. In addition to her job, she also serves as a language tutor to Dimitri Havelock—portrayed by actor Jay Hernandez—a detective on the planet Ceres. She is later attacked by another character and is visited by Havelock while she recovers in the hospital. When asked about portraying Gia, Mitich has said that the "learning the language and gestural language was challenging." She also mentions that the role of Gia is one that she has learned keep perspective with and not to judge them.[3]
Star Trek Discovery
[edit]Throughout the series Star Trek: Discovery, Mitich had the opportunity to play two different characters, Lieutenant Commander Airiam and Lieutenant Nilsson. She portrayed Airiam during the first season of the show, before being recast as Lt. Nilsson from season two onwards. Airiam was a female human cyborg, who also served as an officer aboard the USS Discovery. According to Darren Franich, a critic at Entertainment Weekly, Airiam is "the greatest background character in Trek history since the glory days of the Deep Space 9 bar."[4]
As for Nilsson, her background is similar to Mitich's own—a ballerina who went to a prestigious school of dance, and ended up with a differing career path.[5] Her character succeeds Airiam as a spore drives ops officer aboard the USS Discovery. Occasionally, Nilsson would be left in charge of the bridge of her ship. She later moves and serves aboard the USS Voyager, leaving her pet tribble behind.
Control
[edit]Right project, right time–for sure. I love both. This was like a dream role when it came to me. I read the script, and it was an immediate yes to my team. I love the gritty. I love the human. I love the raw. I love the ugly. I love everything about it.
— Sara Mitich[6]
In Control, Mitich portrays a woman named Eileen. She wakes up in a room, where she is given numerous tasks to complete by an unseen entity. Failure to do so would result in her daughter, Eve, being killed. Working with her husband Roger, the pair must work together to save their daughter and uncover the secret behind her memory loss.[6] Eileen has latent psychic abilities, and the organization that trapped her is determined to see what she can do.[7]
Personal life
[edit]Mitich is an accomplished equestrian. She also enjoys kickboxing, yoga, and Pilates.[2]
Gratitude & Growth
[edit]Mitich is the host of the self-growth brand named Gratitude & Growth,[1] a personal development platform focused on mindfulness, emotional regulation, and presence. The project began as a podcast and later expanded into a broader brand offering written content, community resources, and tools for personal growth.[1]Her work with Gratitude & Growth has been featured by publications including Tiny Buddha[8] and The Elephant Journal.[1]
