INTRODUCTION
[edit]Sangeetha Varma is an Indian music director and first female music director from the Malayalam film industry. She is also the first female music director to compose music for celebrated Indian playback singers k J Yesudas, S P Balasubrahmanyam, P Jayachandran[1]. She made her debut as a film composer with Orkut oru ormakoot[2], released in 2011 followed by Cleopatra in 2012[3][4]

EDUCATION
[edit]Sangeetha Varma completed her schooling at FACT Eastern UP School and FACT High School. She pursued her pre-degree studies at St. Paul's College, Kalamassery, and obtained a Master's degree (M.A.) in Music from Maharaja's Government Women's College, Thiruvananthapuram[5][6].
EARLY LIFE
[edit]Sangeetha Varma recieved her initial training in music at the age of three from her father, Kochappan Thampuran, a carnatic musician from Thrippunithura Palace. She subsequently trained under Padma Shri Dr. K Omanakutty[7][8], Smt. Padma Narayanan, and Trippunithura S K Subrahmanyam . She continues her advanced training in Carnatic music under the guidance of Padma Shri Dr. K Omanakutty.
CAREER
[edit]In 2001, she made her debut as a music director for the telefilm Ente Onam[9] and Malayalanaadu[10]. She has been recognised for music albums Isal Nilavu (2007)[11][12], Monjulla Painkili (2007)[13][14] Kalkkandam,The Mother, and devotional albums Naivedhyam(2008), Ente ayyappan, Vadakkan Sabarimala and Poornarppanam .She subsequently composed music for several devotional albums[15], independent music albums, and telefilms before entering the Malayalam film industry. In 2008, Sangeetha Varma released Vande Mataram, a distinguished multilingual composition featuring 23 languages[16]. The composition broadcast by All India Radio on 26th January, the same year and was noted for promoting national integration through music. Since her cinematic debut, she has also expanded into composing for women's empowerment projects and independent films. She composed and wrote the empowering song "Engum Pakaliravil" for the Malayalam telefilm The Identity.[17] She has also established herself as a playback singer in the Indian film industry, contributing songs to films including Orkut oru ormakoot, Cleopatra, Dr. Innocentanu[18], Ithu oru kanavalla and Paravai.
