STX Next is a Polish information technology company headquartered in Poznań, founded in 2005. It provides artificial intelligence, machine learning, data engineering, cloud, product design and software development services. The company has its roots in Python (programming language) and was historically described as the largest European software house specializing in this programming language [1]. In 2020 STX Next has expanded its services into data engineering, artificial intelligence solutions and cloud technologies.[2]

The Polish private equity fund Innova Capital became the majority investor in October 2020.[3] The company was converted into a joint-stock company in May 2022.[4] Yuriy Adamchuk has been Chief Executive Officer since July 2025.[5]

STX Next operates delivery centres in Poznań and Mérida (Mexico), and sales offices in London, Eschborn near Frankfurt and the Houston metropolitan area in the United States.[2]

History

Foundation and early years (2005-2012)

In 2005 Maciej Dziergwa, together with Peter Valkenburg, established the Polish arm of the Valkenburg company in Poznań, initially under the name Alt Control Internet & Communications Poland.[6] In 2008 Softax acquired 60% of the company, which was then renamed STX Next; Dziergwa retained a 40% stake while Valkenburg and Andrzej Mleczko sold their shares.[7][8]

The company signed its first United States client in 2012.[6]

Innova Capital investment and international expansion (2020-2022)

Innova Capital invested in STX Next in October 2020.[3] The company subsequently shifted its Python engineering base toward data and machine learning work, building practices around Snowflake, Databricks and Apache Iceberg, with Amazon Web Services and Microsoft Azure as its principal cloud partners.[2]

In May 2022 STX Next acquired Ermlab Software, a machine learning and natural language processing specialist based in Olsztyn.[9]

The company opened a delivery centre in Merida, Mexico in June 2022, its first location outside Europe.[9] The site was intended to serve clients in the Americas from a location sharing working hours with North American time zones, giving the company a nearshore option for the United States customers.[2] The same year STX Next was converted into as joint-stock company[4] and moved to a fully remote working model.[2]

Leadership changes and Brainhub acquisition (2023-2026)

Ronald Binkofski became chief executive officer on January 2023, succeeding founder Maciej Dziergwa, who moved to the supervisory board.[10]

In December 2024 STX Next agreed to acquire Brainhub, a software development company based in Gliwice known for JavaScript, .Net, and AWS work.[11][12]

The company marked its twentieth anniversary in 2025.[13] On July 17 2025, Yuriy Adamchuk, previously chief executive of the engineering and consulting group Avenga and deputy chief executive of CoreValue Services, became the new chief executive officer.[5]

Management board

The management board consists of Yuriy Adamchuk (chief executive officer), Łukasz Koczwara (chief technology officer), Karol Kleszcz (chief financial officer) and Matthew Harris (chief commercial officer).[4] The supervisory board includes Andrzej Bartos, Michał Wojdyła, Piotr Świerczek, Lars Olof Elfversson and Maciej Dziergwa.[4]

Clients

Companies whose projects STX describes in its portfolio are based mainly in the United Kingdom, Germany, the United States, Denmark, Ireland and the Netherlands and Poland.[14] Named clients include:

  • Linde, the industrial gases group;
  • Man Group, the British investment management firm;[15]
  • Zego, a British insuretech company;
  • Hemiko, a British wealth management firm;
  • GS1, the standards organisation;
  • Granicus (formerly Firmstep), a provider of digital services software for local government;
  • Rio Changemakers, an AI-enabled climate and nature finance marketplace run by the Government of Luxembourg and the Global Landscapes Forum, for which it was selected as a technical partner to build the platform's first minimum viable product;[16]
  • Hogarth Worldwide, Macmillan Education, Verve, Tour Partner Group, Paze and Deuce Tennis.

STX Next's main service lines cover artificial intelligence, including generative AI, AI agents and retrieval-augmented generation implementations; machine learning; data engineering, data lakehouse platforms and data visualization; cloud services including migration and cost optimization; digital product design; and software development together with quality assurance.[17]

Its clients come from sectors including financial services and insurance, manufacturing and industrials, oil and gas, private equity, technology and digital advertising.[17]

Publications and events

STX Next publishes research reports and techical guides aimed at technology leaders. Since 2020 it has produced the annual "Global CTO Survey", based on responses from more than 200 chief technology officers; the 2024/2025 edition focused on enterprise adoption of artificial intelligence.[18]

It also maintains a library of guides on software outsourcing and engineering leadership.[18]

The company releases part of its engineering work as open source through its GitHub organization.[19] Projects include DeepNext, an autonomous AI agent that converts issue descriptions into pull requests, a retrieval-augmented generation framework, and Licence Auditor, a tool for validating open-source licences in a codebase.[20]

STX Next runs training programmes for client engineering teams, including an AI Bootcamp covering practical adoption of AI tooling in software delivery.[21] It hosts the open PAIDA and DevDuck community meetups.[22]

Awards and recognition

STX Next holds a Snowflake AI Data Cloud Select Services Partner designation in the Snowflake Partner Network[23] and Advanced Tier Services Partner status in the Amazon Web Services Partner Network[24], and its processes are certified to ISO/IEC 27001. In sustainability assessment, STX Next holds an EcoVadis Bronze Medal.[2][25]

Earlier recognition includes 36th place in the 2017 Deloitte Technology Fast 50 Central Europe ranking[26], and inclusion in the "Financial Times" FT 1000 ranking of Europe's fastest-growing companies in 2018, at position 362, and again in 2019.[7][8]
