Ray Albert Saad, known professionally as Ray Saad, is a Lebanese chef. He was a contestant on the ninth season of Top Chef, the Arabic-language adaptation broadcast by MBC, and is the head chef of Sekoya, a restaurant in Palo Alto, California.[1][2]
Early life and education
[edit]Saad began cooking as a teenager, and at around age 15 used savings from summer jobs to attend a ten-day culinary camp in Switzerland before continuing on to culinary school.[3] He later studied at the Institut Paul Bocuse in France.[4]
Career
[edit]Saad has worked at the Michelin-starred restaurant Daniel in New York City.[1][4] He has also operated a seasonal restaurant in Lebanon, Katia by the Sea.[3]
Top Chef
[edit]In 2025, Saad was announced as one of 15 contestants on season 9 of Top Chef (MBC), representing Lebanon.[2][5] In a later interview, he described a curry panna cotta with banana and hot sauce, made for an auction challenge, and a thyme-crusted dish with pomegranate molasses and dates from the show's first episode, as among his most memorable dishes from the competition.[3]
Sekoya
[edit]In September 2026, Saad became head chef of Sekoya, a restaurant on California Avenue in Palo Alto, California, where he introduced a new, more seasonal and locally sourced menu drawing on both Californian ingredients and his Lebanese heritage, incorporating flavors such as za'atar and labneh.[1]
