Rao Kamran Ali
[edit]Rao Kamran Ali (born c. 1976 in Pakistan; راو کامران علی), also known as Rao K. Ali, MD, is a Pakistani-American physician and public official based in Southlake, Texas.
Education
[edit]Ali completed his medical education at Nishtar Medical College, Multan, Pakistan, where he earned his M.B.B.S. degree. He later moved to the United States for postgraduate training, completing:
- Residency in Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation at Albert Einstein College of Medicine / Montefiore Medical Center, New York
- Interventional Spine Fellowship at the Minimally Invasive Spine Institute, Washington, D.C.
- Pain Medicine Fellowship at Case Western Reserve University / University Hospitals Cleveland Medical Center, Ohio
Medical Career
[edit]Ali practices as an interventional pain physician, specializing in minimally invasive spine and pain management procedures.
Public Service
[edit]In September 2023, Texas Governor Greg Abbott appointed Ali to the Texas Physician Assistant Board for a term expiring February 1, 2025[1]. In April 2025, he was reappointed to the board for a term expiring February 1, 2031.[2]
Ali served as National Board President of the Pakistani-American Public Affairs Committee (PAKPAC) in 2020. He subsequently served on its national board and was involved in events for U.S. congressional candidates
Ali has held leadership roles within the Association of Physicians of Pakistani Descent of North America (APPNA) and its alumni network. He served as President of the Nishtar Alumni Association of North America (NANA) in 2014 and as Immediate Past President in 2015 [3]. He also served in APPNA advocacy-related roles and was a candidate for the APPNA Board of Directors for the 2023–2024 term.
In October 2025, Ahsan Iqbal, Pakistan’s Minister for Planning, Development and Special Initiatives, described Ali as Coordinator for URAAN Pakistan (USA).
