RE24 Limited is a British energy software company headquartered in London. The company provides software platforms designed for the procurement and tracking of renewable energy. Its technology focuses on hourly matching of electricity consumption with renewable generation output.
History
[edit]RE24 was incorporated in June 2022 by Dhanushka Tennakoon. Tennakoon previously held role of head of Investment at Centrica. In 2023, he was recognised at the Allica Bank Great British Entrepreneur Awards for sustainability entrepreneurship.[1]
The company expanded its operations across the digital infrastructure and data centre sectors. RE24 completed a twelve-month tenure within the Infrastructure Masons Innovation Incubator. This initiative focused on developing carbon-free energy matching solutions for data centres.[2] The company has received grant funding and support from Innovate UK and UK Research and Innovation.[3] It has also engaged in research partnerships with Ghent University and the University of Moratuwa.
RE24 holds B Corp status. It also holds ISO 9001 and ISO 27001 quality and security certifications.[4]
Technology and operations
[edit]RE24 develops cloud software targeted at data centres, commercial electricity consumers, and renewable energy generators.[5] The platform tracks electricity consumption and green generation output on an hourly basis.
The company operates two primary commercial software solutions:
- RE24 Energy Marketplace: A platform that allows commercial buyers to contract directly with renewable generators for long-term Power Purchase Agreements (PPAs). Supply is verified using EnergyTag compliant hourly certificates secured by blockchain technology.[6]
- RE24 Energy Insights: An analytics platform that connects with enterprise resource planning systems, energy management systems, building management systems, and smart meters. It automates carbon emissions tracking to support compliance with the Greenhouse Gas Protocol (GHGP) and the Corporate Sustainability Reporting Directive (CSRD).[7]
In February 2023, RE24 executed a sleeving Power Purchase Agreement between Motive Fuels and Seacon Terminals.[8] The company subsequently arranged four ten-year PPAs for Keppel DC REIT in Ireland.[9] RE24 manages a portfolio of green energy assets across seven European countries, including the United Kingdom, the Republic of Ireland, Spain, Italy, Hungary, Romania, and Bulgaria.[10]
