Pygmalion Dadakaridis (Greek: Πυγμαλίων Δαδακαρίδης; born 30 May 1977) is a Greek actor of theatre, film and television. He won the award for Best Actor from the Hellenic Film Academy in 2020 for his performance in the film Eftyhia.[1][2]
Early life
[edit]Dadakaridis was born on 30 May 1977 in Bolton, in the Greater Manchester area of England, to a Greek father and an English mother. He initially studied computing and marketing before turning to acting, beginning his stage career in England. In 1996 he moved to Greece, and in 1999 he graduated from the Themelio drama school of Nikos Vastardis.[1][3]
Career
[edit]Dadakaridis became widely known through Greek television, including the series Fifty Fifty.[1] He has built a substantial theatre career, and in the 2020s starred in a Greek stage adaptation of The Whale, which ran for two seasons.[3] In cinema, his performance in Angelos Frantzis's Eftyhia earned him the 2020 Best Actor award of the Hellenic Film Academy.[2] He was later cast in Bells, the first Greek-set feature by director Adam Christian Clark.[4]
