Draft:Project Vanquish

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Project Vanquish is a United Kingdom Ministry of Defence initiative to develop a jet-powered, short take-off and landing, autonomous collaborative platform for the Royal Navy's Queen Elizabeth-class aircraft carriers.[1][2][3] Intended mission sets include intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance, airstrike, and air-to-air refuelling, as part of the Hybrid Air Wing concept.[1][2][4] The programme seeks a technical demonstration at sea of an attritable, fixed-wing, aerial drone capable of operating without a catapult or arrestor gear, complementing the F-35B Lightning II.[1][5] A request for information was issued in October 2025, with a demonstration targeted by the end of 2026 and an 18‑month delivery window.[1][3] Project Vanquish absorbed earlier concepts, including Project VIXEN and Project ARK ROYAL, under the Maritime Aviation Transformation strategy.[4][6]
