Orator is a monospaced sans serif typeface created by John Scheppler for IBM in 1962. The primary version of the typeface contains uppercase characters and small capitals only, which is an unusual trait for monospaced fonts. The typeface contains two different weights: medium and slanted. Orator gets its name from the idea that capital letters are considered clearer and more legible than lowercase letters in typewriter notes.[1]

Digital OpenType versions of Orator are available through Adobe. Bitstream's version adds a lowercase alphabet.[2]
