  • Comment: Still many citations that don't seem to exist. Not a lot of inline citations either. Smallangryplanet (talk) 08:45, 2 December 2025 (UTC)
  • Comment: If he has been a government minister, he is presumably notable. However, the draft is very promotionally written and that has to be addressed. Even more importantly, some of the sources don't work (was an AI tool used to find sources? That might be an explanation, since chatbots tend to make up sources that don't exist), a bunch of references are dumped at the end of the draft instead of being placed at the relevant points in the text, and there is no information about any of the sources – they are bare URLs instead of proper references. bonadea contributions talk 16:58, 14 November 2025 (UTC)

Minister of State for Foreign Affairs

[edit]

In 2011, Muhammad was appointed Minister of State for Foreign Affairs in the cabinet of President Goodluck Jonathan.[1][2]

During his tenure, he represented Nigeria at a number of international and regional meetings.[8][9][10] A 2013 United Nations document, for example, identifies him in his capacity as Minister of State for Foreign Affairs in connection with Nigeria's participation in the Universal Periodic Review process.[11]

During his tenure, he was involved in Nigeria's diplomatic responses to regional political and security issues in West Africa.[12][13][14][15] Contemporary reporting documented Nigeria's involvement in regional initiatives concerning Mali,[16] Guinea-Bissau[17] and neighbouring countries.[18] [19]

Supervising Minister of Information

[edit]

Following a cabinet reshuffle, Muhammad served as Supervising Minister of Information while retaining his position as Minister of State for Foreign Affairs.[3] [20]

In December 2014, he addressed a World Press Conference in Abuja on the federal government's response to the Boko Haram insurgency[21] and preparations for the 2015 general election.[22] [23]

Muhammad resigned from government to participate in the Jigawa State gubernatorial election as the running mate to the Peoples Democratic Party candidate.[24][25]

Political career

[edit]

Muhammad was the Peoples Democratic Party's deputy gubernatorial candidate in Jigawa State in the 2015 general election.[25][26]

In 2022, he won the PDP senatorial ticket for the Jigawa North-East Senatorial District ahead of the 2023 general election. He was returned unopposed at the party's special primary in Hadejia.[27][28][29]
