Nick Matau is an American social-media commentator, debater, and Israel advocate. He is known for producing pro-Israel content on platforms including TikTok, YouTube, and Instagram, where he discusses the Israeli–Palestinian conflict, antisemitism, Zionism, and Middle Eastern history. He has also participated in online debates with critics of Israel and Palestinian advocacy figures.[1]
Early life and background
[edit]Matau is an American from California. According to profiles published about him, he is not Jewish and did not grow up in a Jewish environment. He has described being raised from a young age by a Samoan man who influenced his appreciation for the Jewish people. Before becoming a full-time social-media commentator, Matau served in the United States Navy and worked as a nuclear engineer.[2][3]
Social-media career
[edit]Matau is known for creating online content defending Israel and responding to criticism of the country and its policies. He initially gained a following on TikTok through videos discussing Israel, antisemitism, and the Israeli–Palestinian conflict. In 2024, The Jerusalem Post described him as a "non-Jewish hasbara warrior" and reported that his Israel-focused TikTok account had more than 21,000 followers at the time. The publication also reported that he operated a separate account for livestream discussions.[4] Matau has said that opposition to his views encouraged him to research the Israeli–Palestinian conflict more extensively. His content has addressed topics including the history of Israel, the Arab–Israeli conflict, the October 7 attacks, antisemitism, and contemporary debates over Israel and Palestine.[5]
Views and advocacy
[edit]Matau is a vocal supporter of Israel and identifies with pro-Israel advocacy. His public commentary generally argues in favor of Israel's legitimacy and security while challenging claims made by anti-Israel and pro-Palestinian activists. He also has argued against holocaust denialism and antisemitism. His advocacy has gained him both support and criticism.[6]
In Sept 2024 he posted a video mocking Hezbollah after the 2024 Lebanon pager attacks, which went viral and was posted on websites such as Middle East Eye, with criticism of the video being mentioned.[7]
Supporters regard him as an influential online defender of Israel, while some critics argue that his content presents a one-sided interpretation of the Israeli–Palestinian conflict.[8] His political and historical commentary has consequently made him a controversial figure in online discussions concerning Israel and Palestine. He also has made videos criticizing Islam, with him accusing Islam of promoting pedophilia.[9]

[edit]Matau has done many online debates and discussions concerning Israel and Palestine. His debates have engaged in issues including Israeli citizenship, Palestinian rights, the Oslo Accords, the Green Line, and proposals for the political future of Israel and the Palestinians. He argued against the 2 state solution for the Israel-Palestinian conflict. By 2026, Matau had also been featured in podcasts and other media programs discussing Israel, Iran, the October 7 attacks, antisemitism, and the broader Israeli Palestinian conflict. In 2026 he debated famous commentators such as Sneako, and Myron Gaines.[10][11]
Personal life
[edit]Matau is not a Jew, although much of his public work focuses on Israel and Jewish issues. He has spoken publicly about receiving abuse and death threats as a result of his online advocacy. He has been referred to as Nicolas the Zionist, and other nicknames.[12][13]He is a Noahide.[14]
