MeltFlex is an interior design application developed by MeltFlex s. r. o., a company based in Bratislava, Slovakia. It uses generative artificial intelligence to produce a redesigned image of a room, a house exterior or a garden from a photograph supplied by the user. The company was founded by Matúš Koleják and Branislav Hrivňák and was registered in November 2025.[1][2] By mid-2026 it reported roughly 200,000 registered users, most of them in the United States.[3][4]
History
[edit]Koleják studied informatics and spent about three years building hardware for 3D printing and robotics before moving to software; Hrivňák came from real estate, where he had worked at the developer JTRE.[1][5] Their first product produced three-dimensional floor plans. It drew little interest from non-professional users, and the two rewrote it to work from a single ordinary photograph instead. Forbes Slovensko counted this as the third change of direction and dated the decision to a conference in New York and a Slovak accelerator programme.[1]
Early development was paid for from a private grant, and the product was shown at the SlovakiaTech conference.[4][3] The company was later accepted into the SOSA Slovak Accelerator Program in New York, which closed with a presentation at the Consulate General of the Slovak Republic there.[4][6] MeltFlex s. r. o. was entered in the Commercial Register of the Slovak Republic on 15 November 2025.[2]
Description
[edit]The user uploads a photograph of an existing space and either picks a room type and a style preset or types a description of the wanted change. The application returns a photorealistic image of the same space after the redesign, usually in about twenty seconds. The same process is used for house exteriors and gardens.[7][5]
Furniture in the generated images is matched to products sold by retailers rather than invented. Forbes Slovensko and Parametric Architecture described this as the main difference from general-purpose image generators.[1][7]
MeltFlex runs as a web application and as Android and iOS apps. A REST API, a command-line interface and a Model Context Protocol server are available to developers.[7][8]
Use
[edit]Besides homeowners planning a renovation, the company sells to estate agents and property developers, furniture retailers, interior designers and architects. Two common professional uses are virtual staging of properties for sale and showing a retailer's catalogue inside a customer's own room.[7][1] Named clients include the furniture retailer Kondela and the property companies YIT Slovakia, JTRE, VI Group, Herrys and Cresco Real Estate.[1][7]
Most of the use is outside Slovakia. The Slovak Spectator named Austin, Brooklyn and Phoenix among the American cities where the tool is used,[3] and Forbes Slovensko reported that eight in ten subscribers in 2026 were American.[1] Startitup attributed the focus on the United States to the much higher cost of professional interior design and home staging there.[5]
Business model
[edit]The application is freemium, with a free tier and paid subscriptions and commercial plans.[7] Forbes Slovensko put the cost of generating one image at about seven cents and reported that the company takes a commission of roughly ten per cent on furniture bought through it. The company has taken no outside investment.[1]
