Draft:Mabur

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Mabur, also translated as Habor, Maabor, Mabour, or Mabora, was a Coptic Eunuch owned by the Islamic Prophet Muhammed.[1][2][3]

Little is known about Mabur's life until 628, when Al-Muqawqis gifted him alongside Maria al-Qibtiyya to the Prophet Muhammed. Mabur was originally a Coptic Christian but would convert to Islam while with Muhammed.[4] While owned by Muhammed he was assigned to be the servant for Maria and in this role would establish a precedent in Islam for the use of Eunuchs and the operations of the Harem.[2] He was later said to have become a Sheikh[1]
