Lime Trading Corp. (operating as part of Lime Financial) is an American electronic brokerage firm and technology provider headquartered in New York City. The company provides direct market access (DMA), low-latency trade execution, and trading APIs to quantitative funds, proprietary trading firms, and independent algorithmic traders.[1][2]

It is registered as a broker-dealer with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) and is al a member of the Financial Industry Regulatory Authority (FINRA), the National Futures Association (NFA), the Securities Industry and Financial Markets Association (SIFMA)[3] and the Securities Investor Protection Corporation (SIPC).[4]

History

[edit]

Lime originally traces back to Lime Brokerage LLC, that was founded in 2000 as an internal trading technology unit within a quantitative American hedge fund.[1] The company was established to deliver execution speed, throughput, and order privacy for high-frequency trading strategies.

In 2011, brokerage firm Wedbush Securities acquired Lime Brokerage, integrating Lime's low-latency execution tools and routing technology into its suite of institutional services.[5] In 2018, Lime Brokerage merged its retail operations with Lightspeed Trading, and formed Lightspeed Financial.[6]

In 2020, the financial technology firm Score Priority Corp. acquired the Lime technology stack and trade execution infrastructure from Wedbush, re-establishing the technology team under the trade name Lime Execution.

In 2022, Score Priority rebranded its collective brokerage operations under the banner Lime Financial, adopting Lime Trading Corp. for its broker-dealer arm. The same year Lime Financial was awarded the Best Quantitative Trading Broker at the Markets Choice Awards.[7]

In 2024, Eva Sehic was promoted to CEO of the company.[8] In her role, she received the Excellence in Innovation award at the 2024 U.S. Women in Finance Awards.[9]
