Comment: There too much referenced to sources we can't use. IMDB is the obvious one, but digitaljournalusa.co.uk is a AI bot scrape site. Lawrence Barretto is a British motorsport journalist, television presenter and broadcaster. He is best known as the official Formula One correspondent and presenter for F1 TV, and as a paddock reporter for Channel 4 F1.
Early life and education
[edit]Barretto was born on July 15, 1984 in Frimley, England. He is of Sri Lankan heritage.[1] Barretto grew up in a family with a strong interest in sports, and became interested in motorsport after watching the 1994 Australian Grand Prix.[2] He attended Bournemouth University, where he graduated with a degree in Multimedia Journalism. While studying at university he initiated and conducted an interview with Bernie Ecclestone.[3][1]
Career

[edit]Barretto began his professional media career as a staff writer for Sport Magazine, interviewing Michael Schumacher and Lewis Hamilton. He later moved to BBC Sport as a broadcast journalist. Barretto provided live commentary at major sporting events including the London 2012 Olympic Games. He also worked as an F1 correspondent for the motorsport magazine Autosport.[4][5]
Formula One and broadcasting
[edit]Barretto started working for Formula One Group in March 2018, working as a Senior Writer & Editor at Liberty Media. He provided lead feature and news analysis content for Formula1.com and the official F1 App. In March 2022, he became an Official F1 Correspondent & Presenter, hosting pre- and post-race broadcasts including the Weekend Warm-Up Show, as well as conducting trackside, pit lane, and press conference interviews for F1 TV.[6][7][8]
Barretto is also a Pit Lane Reporter for UK broadcaster Channel 4 F1, a position he has held since March 2021. Additionally, Barretto hosts the series Off the Grid for F1 TV and co-hosts the official educational audio series F1 Explains podcast.[9][10][11][12]
Personal life
[edit]Barretto has been married to Sabrina Barretto since July 2023. He is well-known within the F1 paddock for his large collection of colorful shoes. In addition to this, he has also openly expressed his love for food, declaring himself a "burger connoisseur".[13]
